Home draw again and Cavan,Derry and most likely Down in our way to an Ulster Final. It could be worse, the only downside being in the preliminary round.

Hi gunman: The Draw is really irrelevant, sort ourselves out and the opposition wont really matter.

Farcical that Roscommon will only have to beat Leitrim to get to their provincial final and we would have to beat Cavan, Derry and Down to get to the Ulster final.

Could be NY either, and they would have a bigger pick of players!!

Agreed, but that's what makes the Ulster championship the last great provincial tussle. In regards to the draw I think we've had the rub of the green to avoid Monaghan and Tyrone. However, off the back of last year I am still worried about Down. The last we seen if this Donegal team was two hammerings. I wonder what our level is. I expect to beat Derry and Cavan but not certain like in the past. We can't get carried away with the league and must keep building for Cavan.

Let's be honest no matter what draw we got it was going to be tough. We're coming off the back of a horrible championship season and we don't really know what level we're at. Only time will tell. The Ulster championship has no quality teams at the moment and bar Antrim I really do think that anyone is capable of beating anyone.

It's a great draw. Cavan will give us a good game and all going well it'll stand to us going into the Derry game where we'll have to up it a notch. The preliminary round is great for confidence and momentum if you can avoid I big clash early, and we have.

Meanwhile Tyrone and Monaghan will have to be at peak fitness early on and it could prove difficult to maintain that level of intensity through to the Ulster Final. Let's hope we'll be in the long grass on an upward trajectory come Ulster Final day. Bonner should be a happy camper.

Overall its probably a good draw. Great to get a home game even if it is in the preliminary round. It's really hard to say where we will be at come championship time but if we can get back to playing near our potential we could reach an Ulster final. Cavan won't be a pushover and Derry in Celtic Park would be tough. I was impressed with Down last year (apart form the Ulster final) and it will be interesting to see if they can get better this year.

Would I be correct thinking our first championship game against Cavan will be at the start of May?

It is an excellent draw bar having to play the prelim but on the plus side it is at home. I think realistically if Donegal can get their house in order they should make an Ulster final. There won't be any handy games but I think with the experience coming back and some of the excellent players Donegal already have I would be disappointed in anything less.

Can't see us not making the final with the draw, and woudlnt have us that big of outsiders to topple Tyrone. Mc Niallais and Leo bring the core forward 10fold.

Does McLoone get back into your starting team? Definately an option and in certain games he will be but he actually doesn't make my team at the moment. Its an interesting topic so please dont put this back to a club/player bashing. We need to strengthen up but we also have young players coming through that need game time. Carroll, Mulligan, Langan, and Brennan will all be pushing for spots this year with Carroll and Langan hopefully having bulked up that bit more.

Carroll has been around the squad since 2015.He should be well strengthened up now.My only worry is if we take in too many older players the young players won't get a chance and could become disillusioned.

This is Carrolls first year out of u21s. This will be the year that decides whether he'll be able to break into the team. I feel he will be given chances and if he proves himself he could be in the running. I agree about the older players.
If we were playing Tyrone or Mayo Leo would start but its horses for courses. Unless you need the extra physicality I wouldn't have him starting.

Im looking forward to seeing Stephen McMenemin. I have always like him. He is similar to McGee in that he plays on the edge all the time.
Is Frank McGlynn back this year?

Over the last few years do you not think Leo made an impact? Im not a Glenties man but it is plain to see the value of him and that he is one of our main match winners. Look back over the years under mcguinness and I would suggest Leo was probably one of our most important players, consistently scoring big game changing goals and always in the right place at the right time. He is a very solid ball carrier and was one of our best outlets from defence to attack. The last couple of years where he has played a bit part role for whatever reason, has really shown up that we dont have anyone as good as him. Every match that he was introduced to he almost turned the games in our favour by himself case in point the ulster final 2015, dublin quarter final 2016. The axis of Odhran, Leo, Murphy & McBrearty should be our backbone for the next 4/5 years. Add in Neill McGee, McGrath, McGlynn, Thompson (if he comes back), Ryan McHugh, McElhinney, Declan Walsh and thats a very experienced and talented group to build your young team around.
