I am a GAA man, I've attended games at both codes, club and county. Going to county football games is almost like going to a funeral except their be more athmosphere at a funeral! I don't think throughout the history of GAA in the county we had a strong hurling and football panel simultaneously. The most part we've had a strong hurling panel with a weak football panel except for the late 00s.

Instead of calling me ridiculous names and playing the victim tell me why we should continue to invest heavily in a game that outside a few hardcore fans has very little interest in the county.

we should continue to invest in both games, but i must call you up here stumunstriver you are 100% a football only man, with a hatred of hurling, and amidst your constantly playing the victim, blaming hurling isis, etc on here is becoming tedious.
the county board have put masterson in a good position, what are clubs doing to help him?there are enough football clubs in wexford to make a decent fist of the game, why is this not happening?
i see lots of gaa people in my work near wexford park, supporters and some players.the big difference,is hurling people have put their heart and soul into the game,i do not see the same effort for football in football dominated clubs.why?
that is why football is in a mess, not because of a hurling isis like you claim.

Very poor decision to give another year to the current set up. Another year of going backwards on the way.

tough to know,i think money needs to be spent on coaching rather than a manager.hard to know if anyone better wants the job.we cant just keep changing every year either.
unfortunately,we just do not have the players.the only way is up.
it has been a brutal year for wexford gaa full stop.

Simple because we are a G.A.A county. That's all games associated with G.A.A. again if people want to sacrifice one code over another for the sake of a slightly better chance of winning an all ireland (remeber we have 6 all Ireland's in hurling in over a hundred years and less again in football) then I pity them.

Completely agree. My Wexford gersey does does not say Hurling or Football on it, it says GAA. We are a proud GAA county and anyone who advocates giving up one for the sake of the other should give up both as it's a betrayal of what we as GAA people believe in.

Absolutely, those that support hurling only are only half baked. It's easy of course to support a successful team. Examples of this would be young lads shouting for Manchester United, Liverpool or any of the top teams. With the gaa it's the same thing. Hurlers going well, the whole county gets behind them. Footballers struggling and they get little or no support. With Paul Galvin in charge now perhaps it will increase interest, improve performance and bring back the crowds. As you say Zinny, hurling is only one half of our games and football, even though not in a good place at present we should if we call ourselves real supporters get behind the team. They need us.

I agree that the county footballers need our support and Ive been to dozens of county football games over the years both league and championship. However they are completely different sports and I prefer to watch hurling. I think more people in the county prefer watching hurling as even when we reached the AISF against Tyrone we didnt bring the same numbers of supporters with us. Its not just about a bandwagon effect as I know myself and many others went to more county hurling games than football games in the late noughties when frankly our hurlers were struggling to beat the Joe Mac counties.

Anyone know when the CB meeting to ratify him will be. Given he is only in Dublin it would have been good if he had been able to see some of the big upcoming games - might be all over by the time they get around to it!

Next County Board meeting is scheduled for September 10.

Personally I find it strange that they're waiting until then to "officially" ratify him, when they've announced things already. When Fitzgerald was about to be appointed to the hurling job, there was a special Co. Board meeting called to ratify him before any official announcement was made. IIRC, it was the same when Banty was appointed to the football job.

But this didn't happen when McLoughlin was appointed as football manager, and now it's not happening for Galvin either.

I think the clubs (Co. Board reps) are being backed into a corner here. Some may feel there are valid questions that should be asked and answered first. But now they're in a position where all they can really do is rubber stamp it.
