Replying To wexcore:  "You do realise your forgetting kilkenny in all this. I mean why the hell would they let wexford footballers play in nowlan park. And as it is being suggested bring more wexford fans for what more then likely will be a decider to see who hurls galway in leinster final? Not to mention the fact the cutting up of a pitch before a hurling match.

There was never any feasible chance of a double header in kilkenny."
i asked that above too,and whether wexford venue could be not in wexford!
i would say most grounds are able to cope with 2 matches

Lads the game should be played in New Ross. You'd get more support for a football match in Ross than in Wexford Park, fact. Both because it's closer for the Waterford people and because Ross is football territory. Can't see why not.

Playing it in Kilkenny is a stupid idea. Nothing more demoralising for a team than seeing their "support" turn up with ten mins left in the game just in time for hurlers.

I totally agree with that, makes perfect sense.
And it would be closer to kilkenny for anyone wanting to support both teams.

i remember a double header in thurles a few years ago, good support for the football and hurling.people would go.
as has been said here many times,it is not as easy as calling people bad support because they dont have the ability to watch divigion 4 football.dont forget for many year there was very very few at hurling matches.
waterford will not come to new ross even, support is even smaller, and all from west waterford.they would barely have went to walsh park, but what might have attracted too was a top hurling match after....but anyway,it is what it is.
for what it is worth, new ross is a hole, from 1970's.bad as wexford park is.

People wouldn't go. And if they did, for the vast majority the only reason someone might go to Kilkenny early to be there for the football is so they can get a good seat for the hurling on after.

The Waterford people from west Waterford would come to Ross, more than they would to Walsh Park. And more Wexford people would turn up to Ross than Wexford Park. Especially if it's played at 2pm and gives people plenty of time to head to Kilkenny after.

I really can't believe people are suggesting to play our senior football home championship match in Kilkenny. Unreal.

The football is fixed so there's no point talking about where it should or shouldn't be played! Any updates on the injury situation? Any challenge games or word on how training's going?

icehonesty, the only reasons i said it was because i wanted some level of support,i do not think the lack of interest in football is due to anything other than the low level the team is at at present.
the best way to raise that is to get support.wexford park will not be a fortress with 200 supporters.
but it is what it is.

After a great result on Monday hopefully keep the flow and come out on the right side of this game.

Waterford have had nearly as much as a turn around in players from last year as us. With losing jim and daithi we are losing two key figures for us.

I expect naomhin to go back Full back and Nolan to centre back and the big lad ( cant for the life of me recall his name) into midfield. And Tiernan (although would perfer pepper ) for Curtis.

It will be a tough battle but if tubritt plays like he did against laois we should squeeze through

shouldnt be surprised, but it is crazy to think we never played each other in championship!
would it be pushing it to expect a 5-6 point win?

I would agree with these changes, would prefer Tiernan to start myself. Hopefully the U20s who are still eligible dont play a part and get to enjoy the occasion of big game against the Dubs at home.
Daithi is certainly a massive loss but as you say if Tubritt plays like that again we should win. Unfortunately he has been frustratingly inconsistent so far, in recent years have seen him tear teams apart at club level on his day and also been easily man marked other days. I think if he becomes more consistent he will take over from what looks like Lyngs retirement.
Wexford by 5 is my prediction followed by a sprint to Nowlan park. Great weekend in store

This Waterford game is the best draw we could have gotten, by my reckoning Waterford are probably ranked number 32 in the country right now, especially after losing Paul White. It brings it's own pressures though. A loss to Waterford would probably be the worst result and worst year of football for Wexford maybe ever.

Having said that I expect us (and hope!) to win by 7 points today.

A disaster. Well beaten from start to finish.

Yes, we have new players. But we should still be a lot better than this. This has been a terrible year bar the one Laois game where we put up a fight.

It will be very interesting to see who takes over the footballers now. It needs someone good asap.

Shambles. Waterford last won a championship game in 2011 against London.

Bringing on two under 20s when the game was lost was terrible too. They can't play now with under 20 team

Tough to take but Waterfords intensity blew us open in the first half ... I have said mcloughlin should get another year but after that when time and time again we were exposed straight down the middle it makes you wonder.

One positive I will say before it gets all doom and gloom eoin Porter was outstanding

Just because a team is young and transition, doesn't mean we can overlook the shambles this season has been. A second year will set us back further.

Agree, Eoin Porter is a talent.
