Who has he coached or managed? How did they do? What style of football does he favour? I hope making the Kildare team as a player years ago isn't the only thing on his CV

Was over the minors a few years ago and didn't go great at all.
Meant to be a nice guy and was part of two previous back room teams.
To be honest the appointment of Anthony Masterson was more important than this position.
We have slipped way back the pecking order in football and getting a big push on underage football is required if not we will be like Waterford/Wicklow/London very very quickly.

He was over the minors in a year or two when they did badly.

And was in the backroom of two managers.

What club sides has he managed? What's his pedigree? What has he won? What players has he developed?

Surely he hasn't been appointed on the basis of being from Kildare, a nice guy, and around the senior set up for a while?????

So on what basis would Murphy or the likes get the job as some suggested. They have no management experience. This man has. Go look up his record

I've tried to look up his record, and all I can find is that he was minor manager and didn't do very well, and was in the backroom team of the seniors where he was described as being nice to have around. I am asking you, and everyone else, to shed light on his management experience. Who else has he managed?

And I don't think appointing David Murphy would have been right either. He has no experience. I know David and he's a nice fella, but he should be building his CV for a few years managing club teams, etc.

After further digging I see he has coached Volunteers and Kilmore at junior/intermediate level without setting the world alight. Anything else?

I heard him on the radio on Sunday. I don't know much of him either but from that I heard he won some senior championships over teams in kildare and Waterford I think. Stradbally in Waterford anyhow. He also coached Waterford senior team previously he said.
Backroom team is still to be finalised according to interview. He already has one selector from kilmore who won championships down there at intermediate level and I think is currently over a senior team

The fella from Kilmore is he the lad who was over Fethard this year when they finished 5th in a group of 6.

Kilmore didn't win any intermediates did they? Or Vols?

Coached Stradbally... okay. Waterford championship hasn't been won by any club outside Stradbally, Nire and Ballinacourty since 1999...

Not sure tbh but sometimes how a team fairs is not fully reflective of a coach or manager. Lot of other factors.

I think that this is the key point.. We need to invest in the future.. The banty appointment was always going to be short term and spending a fortune to bring fellas half way across the country is madness..

I think most people feel that this appointment is a good one and that there is a long term plan being developed. Masterson is key to that.

I actually think Davy is worth the money because he has breathed new life into the senior hurlers. The underage work has been done for the past 10 years in hurling and a good manager at the top is needed for it and we have it in Davy.

For years the bottom of the football triangle has been neglected with money only being pumped in at the top. Whatever money is saved by appointing a local manager should be put into Anthony Masterson top drawer and he should go out and spend it on improving under age football. I expect a few leans years for our top team but the aim has to be 5-10 time to be back competing in Leinster finals.
