Galway U17s and 21s Football Management for 2018

(Oldest Posts First)

Anyone heard anything about who was interested in being involved in these management teams for 2018?
Anyone got suggestions about best people for job?

don't know about U-17s but considering that Galway City won Ted Webb Cup and beat Galway North by a point in semis, who then won the Shield it would appear that there is strength in depth coming through for next year, maybe a mix of both management teams?
As for the 20's you'd imagine it should be Stephen Joyces if he seeks it, nothing wrong with Gerry Fahy but he would only know the lads from last year , Finnerty, Darcy, Connelly Haslam whereas Joyce has worked with the last three years minor teams with great success.
hopefully not to many of these lads get called into senior panel as it would rule them out of the 20s competition. Would expect this 20s team to be very strong given that the bulk of them have got to an All Ireland already, some twice.

Well Time we get Padraic Joyce involved in some capacity of management.

What young footballer wouldnt be inspired by Galways greatest ever ?

Doubt Stephen Joyce will get it I know he won 3 Connacht titles lost 2 quarter final to tipp and Cavan lost all Ireland to Kerry it not always a great thing have same manager with same bunch of players for 2 long don't think he really developed many great players only my opinion

Disagree with you. Joyce and co. developed many players and enjoyed wonderful success that galway haven't seen at Minot level since 2007. 10 years ago!!!!! The teams were fit, strong, and played smart football. Unlucky this year against Cavan but in my opinion , the players probably weren't good enough and we all saw what Kerry did in the final. I do however believe the 20s have a great chance at all Ireland success and have to agree with juniorblegend above in that joyce and his mgmt team are the best for the job. Going on what I have heard, the players respect this management team and want them in charge. Here's hoping.

I'd imagine u17 management will remain the same!

Should be a very strong U17 team next year. Both team's seem to be very strong and should push hard for a title. U20's is interesting, Stephen Joyce/Gerry Fahy are your obvious candidate's. Can we see either of these two potentially being a Senior Manager? No.Talks of Padraic Joyce are crazy, he has no experience in taking a team.Superb player but needs to do the ground work first.

Think the above posts highlight the big issue with our underage structures. There is a lack of connectivity between set ups. Should be 1 man over the lot with coaches of each team reporting in. S&C etc should all be integrated into 1 program designed to produce the best possible senior. If we pick up an underage title on the way that's a nice bonus.

Think you're spot on with those points. No integrated plan, no vision for style of football and/or style of player to be developed.
Devising a strategy and vision doesn't take too much in terms of resources, implementing of course is a different matter.

Thanks Kickitout saw that confirmed in Tuam Herald today.
No Steven Joyce even at 17s level ?? Had heard rumours of a falling out with county board over development squads, if that's true would explain a lot.
