Well done reald me auld friend. Enjoy it, there can be no denying how good this dubs team is. I don't drink either so I know where you coming from.
Now ok it was a penalty that wasn't given, that been said Dublin shaded it. So enjoy the forum , brag all you want to. You and this dubs team have earned that right. Again well done. Dubly3inrow

Btw. Aos should have been black carded for trip on Dublin player.
I am not one for taking sides. Or bashing any team. I just want some consistency from refs.

Donal Vaughan giving up a one man advantage before it even happened

CoC missing an easy free in first half and a chance to win it at the end - Surely a narrow angle free for a right footed kicker should be taken off the ground

Aidan o shea kicking a Hail Mary wide when he had options ( ditto Andy Moran)

Allowing Janes McCarthy win a few key kick outs In second half"
If you check the results of Dublin v Connacht championship games since the war,I think you will find that Dublin have won about 95% of them.
It's a psychological thing.

You make your own luck. Vaughan's hit was ridiculous, Doherty should have goaled, Cillian should have scored the free. Any of the 3 would have got Mayo over the line. Easy look outside to blame someone again. Broken records.

In fairness they're quite good at football too.

Utter nonsense. Sadly Mayo would have contrived some way to lose it. Their full back will have many sleepless nights over his "rush of blood". Their forwards decision making at the death wasn't great, though I would have left Andy Moran on until the end. Truth is another year and more sob stories from Mayo.

Congratulations to Dublin. Sign of a good team that can win it when they didn't play their best. Many other teams would have buckled going behind so late in the game.

It should be noted that it's not Mayo posters complaining about the decisions.

Dublin won and good luck to them, it takes a special side to win three in a row. As for us, we go again next January.

These threads are horsesh#t .. Best team won, the ref got a lot of calls wrong for both sides. Mayo lost it because Vaughan lost the plot, Doherty missed a one on one, kicked a few bad wides.. Yet again in the championship when Mayo needed a scorer , they were off the pitch..

I really fancied Mayo and had them backed earlier on in the year to win Sam I have no complaints
The kick outs in the last few minutes all went Dublin's way , should Clarke not have tried to find a teammate with those last couple kick outs ? You could say goalkeepers cost Mayo the last two All IRELANDS
Also discipline is a big factor in any game and especially a final. What did D Vaughan achieve by his actions today ?
Had he kept his head Mayo would have had an extra man and could have won
Leaving all that aside congratulations to Dublin , a fantastic achievement. Well done to all and hard luck again to Mayo
Only for us ( Donegal) Dublin would now have five in a row."
Ye were a one hit wonder though

Replying To ruanua:  "I can see why Mayo fans might be unhappy with the ref but

1) the free at the end of the first half was for a tackle after the Kilkenny/Andrews collision - it may still have been soft but that's another argument
2) there was contact outside the square and then heavy contact in the square - if he blew for the first contact it was a free
3) the CoC free chance came from a incorrect line
Ball and a fairly soft free
4) he correctly gave Mayo 2 mins to equalise due to time wasting -,this is not always the case ( 2011)
5) it was a red card

All in all Mayo probably were unlucky on the big calls but don't think any of them were 100 pc wrong

They lost the game -from 3/4 easy wides - not being able to sustain the effort on ckuxtons kick outs ab"

Fair play. I actually thought the 'peno' contact was outside the box. Free count very heavy against Dublin today. Rock could have goaled when he fisted that point but I think the moral of the story is that this Dublin team lies down for nobody. It's a great Mayo team but it's a 75m game these days and you have to be on it for the full game. Hard luck Mayo but there may be another year in ye.

I posted on Friday - 'Why Dublin?' and I gave a frank assessment and wished both counties well...

But as a former referee who spoke to a former county referee who has sitting behind me, we were not impressed with McQuillan's performance, to me it was a penalty , but I need to check with TV

Well done Dublin and hard luck Mayo... we did witness a great game... from a truely great goal, Mayo took hold but alas ......

There's only so many hard luck stories we can listen too. Game was there to be won, Mayo yet again failed to win. You could basically say Mayo had a free to win it and Dublin had a free to win it. Cillian missed it and Rock scored, Rock learned from the league final where as Cillian didnt learn from last year. Also believe Mayo lost to Galway by a point when they had chances to win at the death. Mentally weak

Congratulations Dublin, three in a row and team of the decade,
Gutted for Mayo, could have been 4-5 points ahead at half time ,
Some bad wides including a close in free and a few falling short to Cluxton.
Donal Vaughan will have nightmares over his intervention after the free already awarded to Mayo,
Wonderful game of close margins.

2 Dub players run into each other and free given against Mayo - sickening for Mayo people - much better team lost today!!!

Yes it was there for Mayo to win it and they failed to capitalise.Thought Dublin ordinary enough today and this great team has now won 4 of it's 5 All-Ireland's by a single point.I remember the great Kerry team demolishing Dublin in Finals in the late 1970s by 14 or 15 point.Mayo were marginally the better team today and this Mayo team won't keep getting chances.

No injustice.. have to take the good with the bad.

Mayo failed to take advantage throughout the entire game. Unfortunately, they will be able to look back and see where they themselves lost it.

Vaughan red card
One on one goal chance
Free missed in injury
Fouling Dublin in a scoring position
Failing to gather the resulting kick out.

It's the little things that caused them to lose and I think they used all their lives to get to the final.

On the other hand congratulations to Dublin on writing themselves into history. In the modern era it shows how hard it is to retain an All Ireland let alone win three in a row

Says a lot. Fair play Gleebo.

Commiserations but they're a great team and are going nowhere.

They were written off by all and sundry this year but kept going and were only a whisker away again.

Mayo are so close and I still think they will get over the line soon.
