In the past week the Galway Hurling Panel of 1987&88 along with the help of some previous Galway Hurlers have set up the Tony Keady Family Fund. GalwayKeady6 (Galway) - Posts: 2 - 04/09/2017 14:17:34 2042557 Link 2 |
I would love to see the GAA give 5 euro of each ticket yesterday towards this fund. Pressure should be put on them to do so. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 04/09/2017 14:28:12 2042561 Link 0 |
Pinkie, nice sentiment, he was a great Gael but if they give 400K€ plus then were does it stop? Who they give too? Who not? Who decides. Honestly they cannot. witnof (Dublin) - Posts: 1604 - 04/09/2017 17:05:19 2042627 Link 5 |
Good point. It is catch 22.

Therein lies the problem......GAA is contributing to a benevolent fund for ex players ( alongside the GPA) and their dependents......a lot of ex players have fallen on hard times so it's a very tricky one for the GAA........great that Conor Hayes and others have set this up which without doubt will see many GAA people contribute but the GAA hierarchy have to tread a fine line here
