Replying To ballydalane:  "Without Kilkenny in the All Ireland final there is an element of "Hamlet without the Prince" about it, but shur I might tune in for the last couple of minutes to see who wins......

Final score: Galway 1-24; Waterford 2-18. I fancy Joe Canning to turn on the style tomorrow and win motm."
Dunno if you meant it or not but to be honest that post was fairly obnoxious..

You are living in your own world if you believe that.

Replying To Marlon_JD:  "What has the general build-up for the match been like this week? I'm away from home, so its hard for me to tell, but it seems to be a bit more subdued than I'd have expected, going by the general national media outlets, forums, etc. I thought there'd have been a huge build up to this game, given the 2 teams involved (neither have won an AI in last 29 years, neither Tipp or Kilkenny involved etc), and I'm sure its mental within the 2 counties involved, but I thought there'd be more build up in the media this week. Especially after the record crowds that showed up to the 2 semi's.

Am I wrong (I could very well be), or is there less interest than expected, outside of the 2 counties involved?"
it's been pretty poor on the gaa's behalf. the first showcase final in September and hardly a wimper, it's like they don't give a toss { no offence to the following } because kk/tipp aren't involved. For the biggest sports organisation in the country they sure would need to employ a couple of decent pr gurus who could bring a bit of razzmatazz to the whole weekend/s then again, they will sell out tickets so they probably think that's job done but it really smacks of disrespect and contempt to those teams who make the final/s and those supporters spending good money in the economy and then you have the biased media who've got miles of column print and airwaves of international sucker and super 14 rugby, you'd think that the ai final is an irrelevance and inconvenience to fill a few blank areas

Relax, it was a joke, I'm looking forward to the final tomorrow. And people say the yanks don't get irony.....

Speaking of arrogance, Dublin football fans are the worst by far.

That post is a little unbecoming of you Ballydalane.

Up until the Cody reign 2 or 3 all-irelands a decade was the KK quota. Cork were ahead on all-ireland wins until the KK surge of 2006-10.

I could go back along way but there was certainly nothing missing from Galway v Tipp 1988, Offaly v Limerick 1994, even more so Offaly v Clare 1995, Limerick v Wexford 1996, Tipp v Clare 1997 to name but a few.

I'm on the border with KK and support them as i've family connections but even some of those remarked how boring the celebrations were in 2015.

It came across as half joking, half in earnest.

And that was too much.

You have a point. Walking through Dublin this evening and night, if you were a stranger you would never get a notion that one of the biggest events in the Irish sporting calendar -- an event by which some of us at least measure our Irishness -- was happening tomorrow. It has the feel of any old Saturday night. I remember either in 1998 or 2001 the Saw Doctors gave a free concert in College Green and there was thousands at it. Everybody knew that night there was an All Ireland final on the next day. They'll probably have to give Dublin hurlers a bye into the final some year before the city will show any interest.

I guess in this day and age people are no longer capable of deciphering the context of the written word unless it's accompanied by emojis.

Sarcasm doesn't travel well over the internet sometimes.

It just sounded off as let's face it ye haven't been lacking in big days and it's not all about Kilkenny.

For all the handwringing about Guinness' sponsorship of the hurling championship at the time, at least they knew how to promote it properly.

No it has never been your form Ballydalane. A poster of integrity always. We all say something that comes out wrong.

I suppose a lot of emotion around tonight, just looking at the Keady family in the audience there etc. And Mention of Conor Gleeson's brother too.

Hamlet without the prince my a**e. Ye weren't good enough this year . A certain amount of humility wouldn't go amiss with you boys . The fact that this is the most eagerly awaited final in at least two decades should say something to you.

Best of luck to both teams today. At least one famine will end after so many near missess...
I can only see one winner and that's Galway to win pulling up. 10 -12 point margin.
