Ah now, come on that's harsh! Tuam is bad - but they do have mains electricity!

Lets see an investigation into the loss that was made at "Mountain South". What lessons, if any, have Galway learnt from this 2 million euro loss? Has any one done a report?

Anyone any idea if work on new dressing rooms has started or when it will start.

How have they lost so much money when land and hose prices are back at the same level and in some cases gone higher than they were in the boom?

€2.8m paid by the board at the height of the boom. Auction estimate according to the Independent last week of €750,000. As someone else observed in a previous comment, it's worthy of an investigation alright. Sounds like no one is dumb enough this time around to pay that sort of money.

True - but it has to be worth more than 750k, sure U'd barley get a site for a domestic house in Kinvara for 100K

Fair point, but at the end of the day I guess it comes down to what someone is prepared to pay. 750k may be a low valuation just to get things rolling. They'll do well though to get close to what they paid for it.

Great news today with confirmation that Mr Joe O Toole will cost the rebuilding work in a new roof and seating in the stand at Tuam Stadium. This along with the new dressing rooms ( which will be finished in the new year) new terracing on the stand side will be a massive addition for Tuam. More plans are in the pipeline .

The new dressing rooms are nearly completed behind the terracing before the stand, its all new terracing there as well with provisions in place to extend the stand all along that side. Will be done in time. Mr o Tooles gesture will allow the present stand be updated as soon as possible.

well done Mr O Toole. Remember that the Irish government pumped 191 million euros into the Aviva stadium, from our taxes. So the GAA should demand same?

Had u drink taken when u posted that! I'd be confident the gaa have probably far exceeded the irfu and fai when it comes to grants from the government.

Anyway point is each development needs to be able to argue its own case. What has happened in Cork is a disgrace. White elephant and will probably mean all other funding applications will be looked on with suspicion.

Tuam Stadium once represented what Bernabeau means to Real and Nou Camp to Barca. Can't wait to see the plans for a well equipped 18k stadium come to a glorious fruition. Due to location, Just off motorway, I'd expect all league fixtures to draw full capacity crowds. And surely nobody will begrudge the local gentlemen earning a few bob to look after our wheels...

we were completely outnumbered yesterday in Tuam Stadium it was like a home match for Mayo, We seem to be always out numbered by Mayo and Roscommon supporters when we play there. Where is all the great support for Tuam stadium ?

I wouldn't go as far as to say its a myth, but it's certainly exaggerated beyond what it actually is.

Unprecedented support yesterday.. at least 7500 there for an Fbd game, possibly up to 3000 Galway fans for an FBD game!!!! and you find a negative..
Read Kevin Walsh and the players thoughts on the attendance, they loved it, Walsh said 4 years ago we would get one hundred fans now Galway fans flocked to Tuam....
