Cant believe this hype machine is getting going again.Half of those man of the match selections have just gone to hI'm because of his media profile. A blind man could see Keith Higgins was motm by a mile yesterday closely followed by Harrison and parsons. AOS has played reasonably well against division 2 and division 3 teams. He won't do a thing against Kerry or Dublin. As usual

People get wound up over individual awards like this, there was uproar about Lee Keegan getting it last year. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 08/08/2017 12:33:13 2030934 Link 0 |

Kilkenny all day long the best player on the undisputed best team. mayoboy1 (Mayo) - Posts: 1654 - 08/08/2017 13:26:47 2031001 Link 1 |
I've no idea how that made it past the mods considering some of the stuff that they won't let through. As for why it auto corrected like that - god knows! cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5016 - 08/08/2017 14:19:43 2031040 Link 1 |
And no player(s) from Kerry in the mix, no?

Not for me. Was even surprised he got MOTM yesterday. The game was over at 2-6 - 0-1 and AOS could hardly be considered the main influence to getting Mayo to that score. Higgins to me was the best player for Mayo yesterday but AOS seems to be the default select MOTM in such games. I would consider him behind Higgins and Keegan as Mayo's best players this season so far. poguemahone (Dublin) - Posts: 365 - 08/08/2017 14:51:43 2031066 Link 1 |
Seriously? AOS has dug us out of several holes this year, going back to the Donegal league match which we needed to win to avoid relegation. Not a big fan of his previously, but no doubting his influence this year, especially given that Keegan was struggling up to the Roscommon drawn game ( winter exertions no doubt playing a part).

An outside bet but again has to put in big performance in the SF to be considered. Ciaran Kilkenny was my ante post bet. Regretting not putting any money down as he is looking consistently good. poguemahone (Dublin) - Posts: 365 - 08/08/2017 16:59:44 2031167 Link 0 |
Lee Keegan got POTY last year without winning Sam. Hard to see another Mayo player winning it without being All Ireland champions. FootblockREF (Monaghan) - Posts: 564 - 08/08/2017 17:12:13 2031175 Link 0 |
Isn't it a player voted award? DannyMcA (Dublin) - Posts: 260 - 08/08/2017 17:22:05 2031184 Link 0 |
He's not even mayo's best player and he won't get a sniff against kerry he is very over rated for a man that disappeared in every semi and final Al mightydubs (Dublin) - Posts: 48 - 08/08/2017 18:20:50 2031223 Link 0 |
If Mayo beat Kerry he has a good chance. Hard to see him getting it without playing in the final. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 09/08/2017 14:54:52 2031614 Link 0 |
Realistically there have been no games played that count towards player of the year. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4235 - 09/08/2017 15:10:36 2031623 Link 0 |
Paul Mannion @ 25/1 and Kilkenny at 14s are good bets. O'Donoghue looking shaky at 7/1 joint fav with Geaney. If JOD is actually injury free and steps it up, coupled with Kerry winning SAM, he could land it. So could Geaney. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8596 - 09/08/2017 15:32:51 2031635 Link 2 |
