Just wondering who people consider their best 5 goalies, 5 defenders and best 5 forwards/midfield in hurling since 2000. Very tough to put them in rank.

Honourable mentions: James McGarry KK, Ger Cunningham, Simon Byrne Offaly.


Defenders:

3. JJ Delaney
4. Brian Lohan
5. Brian Corcoran

Honourable mentions, Ciaran Carey, Ken McGrath, Liam Dunne, Tony Browne (longevity), Tony Keady, Austin Gleeson could easily slip in at number 4 or 5 but give him another year or so.

Forwards:

2. Henry Shefflin
3. Eoin Kelly Tipp
4. Joe Canning
5. Joe Cooney

Honourable mentions, Ben O'Connor, Joe Deane, Dan Shanahan, Martin Storey, Declan Ryan Tipp, John Troy (skill levels) Johnny Pilkington from midfield. For some reason despite his scoring prowess i felt John Mullane wasn't the most skilfull. Dropped an awful lot of ball low and wide hitting for points off his left. Tony Kelly,Clare would have been nearer only my memories from this year are a lot of wides. A bit like Clare themselves.

Bound to have left a few out. Memory can be selective!
