Any predictions for this weekend's two semi finals ? mayoallstar (Mayo) - Posts: 259 - 30/10/2017 11:35:29 2059080 Link 0 |
How can walking through their championship unchallenged and a bye in the quarters help when facing the current champions? Dark horses and a somewhat unknown force maybe but tough matches against good opposition is what generally helps.

Your right they have played nobody and I've heard they lost a lot of players from last year so can't see them winning against connellys. They played last year and i think connellys won by 3/4 points but i would guess connellys by 8. Sean macs will win there game handy also tommy macs would be weakest of these 4 teams so sean macs by 6 plus and maybe a red card. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 706 - 02/11/2017 13:44:06 2059767 Link 0 |
St Colmcilles only won the herts championship final by 2 points? Hardly walking it... ukgaa (UK) - Posts: 51 - 02/11/2017 14:12:59 2059777 Link 0 |
Great game in Ruislip yesterday with Sean McDermotts coming out on top by 2 points. mayoallstar (Mayo) - Posts: 259 - 06/11/2017 10:19:19 2060709 Link 0 |
yeah good game yesterday in Ruislip, McDermotts were very efficient with the ball, rarely gave it away, also they were very good on their kickouts. McCurtains will be disappointed as they were sloppy with possession at times, but considering they were only Junior this year will be delighted with their showing in the All Britian. Two gold midway through the first half killed them but did well to battle back in the second half.

Connollys won without too much trouble. 1-14 to 0-04. Restricted Colmcilles to 2 points in each half. Colmcilles had a few goal chances but they didn't take them and that cost them. Not sure Connollys are as strong as they were last year. magicmike (Roscommon) - Posts: 2 - 06/11/2017 13:23:59 2060764 Link 0 |
Great game in Ruislip on Sunday, reading through the thread I wasn't expecting as tight of an encounter as it was. Great to see the game played in a great spirit, fast paced, relatively high scoring with both sides supported strongly. Sam4thewest (Mayo) - Posts: 25 - 07/11/2017 12:53:01 2060981 Link 0 |
I was at the last two games in Leeds as a neutral Yorkshire man and for me, DC of Edinburgh look the team to beat. They have a very strong spine with some very strong ball carriers up the middle and are capable of shooting points from distance. St. Colmcille's played with two sweepers and still couldn't stem the Connolly's attack which still scored 1-14 whilst kicking 10 wides and missing two goal chances thanks to great saves by the keeper. They also defend well and give away very few chances, they made changes midway through the first half due to a head collision and looked even stronger afterwards, which shows the strength in depth that they have. Likewise in the 2nd half, they made no fewer than four changes in the forwards and the scores kept flowing with renewed energy. Some game of football in McGovern Park sunday gone, two teams going hammer and tong at each other for 60 minutes with two goals from the Sean Mc's full forward being the difference. Think what it come down to was McDermotts wanting it more and it meaning more to them. JustSaying. (UK) - Posts: 55 - 07/11/2017 13:57:33 2060995 Link 0 |
Well done Macs defeating a better than average Junior team in London by 2 points. fancyaride (Mayo) - Posts: 180 - 07/11/2017 15:54:17 2061024 Link 2 |
What are people's predictions for the final? I haven't seen any of mcDermotts this year but know too well their physical style of football and they will be very hard beat! Dunedin of Edinburgh having seen them play twice look very strong. So I'm interested to know people's thoughts? Yorkshirterrier (Cork) - Posts: 5 - 07/11/2017 18:51:51 2061060 Link 0 |
does anyone know if de game is definitely set for leeds? Thought dey may have played an all Britain final at either McGovern or de pitch up in Birmingham? JustSaying. (UK) - Posts: 55 - 08/11/2017 10:17:30 2061150 Link 0 |
Game is to be played in Leeds, as you say an All Britain final you think would played either be in Birmingham or McGovern park, both good pitches with good facilities at both venues , not some wide open council pitch. Last time I played there, not even a changing room at the venue, I presume there is some sort of clubhouse & changing facilities there now ?? mayoallstar (Mayo) - Posts: 259 - 08/11/2017 12:10:17 2061188 Link 0 |
Manchester was good enough for Dunedin v Mitchels last year, would have thought the best available venue again this year? kitkat (Tyrone) - Posts: 42 - 08/11/2017 13:28:03 2061205 Link 0 |
There are dressing rooms on site now. The pitch is also in the middle of the country making it fair on both sides as they will have the same distance to travel. Yorkshirterrier (Cork) - Posts: 5 - 08/11/2017 14:23:25 2061215 Link 0 |
Geography lesson lad, Leeds is nowhere near the middle of Scotland kitkat (Tyrone) - Posts: 42 - 08/11/2017 15:29:35 2061227 Link 0 |
Your English reading skills are obviously as bad as your geography skills going by the fact you can't read people's posts correctly so I think I'll refrain from your 'lesson'. I never said anything about Scotland, Leeds is closer to the middle of the UK, which is where we are playing football. It gives no advantage to either team, hence the venue being chosen as Beeston in Leeds.

Leeds the obvious choice, removes home advantage for either club. Would imagine it will be a close game. AgeOfUmpires (Galway) - Posts: 3 - 08/11/2017 16:41:42 2061245 Link 0 |
Biggest match of the British GAA provincial season being played on a council pitch. Is there toilet/refreshments available? Why is this not at a GAA club/facility? Awful craic. shakespeare (UK) - Posts: 28 - 15/11/2017 12:28:59 2062460 Link 0 |
