I'm well aware I've tread this path before, but I'd be failing humanity to let such stupidity go unchallenged.

It's funny just how powerful the thought process of "I want it to be true, therefore it is true, despite all evidence to the contrary" dominates people's minds. Like how many comments on this thread (and other threads) still go "oh I'd love to see the GAA's accounts" "they never get audited" "I've never heard of their income being published" "the GAA never shows where the money goes" "who knows what the Croke Park heads get paid" etc. ?

This is despite the fact the GAA produce a detailed set of accounts free for anyone to download and read. Every. Single. Year. link

They even have publicised releases and news articles about the finances: link

And photoshoots of the suits showing off the new finance reports: link

What rock do people like under that they manage to miss this? A five minute search of the report would answer just about any question.

(Not sure why, but the first link above keeps inserting "www.hoganstand.com/forum" into the url I posted, which just gives leads you to a 404 error unless you remove it)"
It's not a URL it's a link for a .pdf

I don't see it telling us that Duffy alone takes aprox €300,000.00 + car + expenses. On top of that he also has his pension from teaching. Amateur my azxe!!!!!!! That's a massive salary, uncalled for, morally wrong and not known by most people. People thought the IFA were robbing farmers, which they were. What's the GAA doing about it and how many more are screwing at it????

Have you any evidence of this? And while €300'000 is high, the man is effectively in charge of an organisation with 90m of income a year (excluding the counties and provinces' own income), over 1'000'000 members, 2600+ clubs. 100's of millions (if not billions) of euro worth of assets. That sort of work is going to be a 6 figure salary at the least.

Too many people think the GAA is the same as a local club, just far bigger. In reality at the top level the GAA has to be run at a professional, executive level, or else it would just collapse. I know some people don't like the idea of any sophistication in GAA organisation, but it's needed.

Yes, multiple posts on the issue, so we'll let sleeping dogs lie, however I can't help but think it will raise it's head again along with the Sky gaa deal.
