Armagh v Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

As much as I'd love to see it, I just don't think Armagh are winning this one. They played some cracking stuff on Saturday but lets be fair, some of the scores they kicked were out of this world, 1 time only kind of scores. Jamie Clarke was on fire, led the line and scored for fun. I think Tyrone have all the tools required to nullify both Clarke and the other forwards around him.
Scores won't come as easy to Armagh with the Tyrone blanket in full effect. I think that the 1 week turnaround and winning in such dramatic fashion might just have sucked the impetus out of Armagh. A first win in Croke Park in a long time will inspire this Armagh team, they'll have no fear of Tyrone but I don't think Tyrone will be as prone to errors as Kildare. They're far more disciplined at the back and if they match Armagh in the intensity stakes I see them winning this one.
Best of luck to both teams, here's to hoping we get another cracker

I've been looking for this fixture since Armagh beat Tipp! I don't underestimate Armagh one single bit, Kildare showed against Dublin that they're not a bad side and Armagh showed on Sat they can mix it with the "top 8" according to the Sunday games ranking in previous weeks. This game will be a very tasty one. Tyrone I think will be more polished than Kildare all over the field not just relying on certain individuals to take the game by the scuff of the neck. Tyrone not only had 11 different scorers v Down in the Ulster final, they were able to take off the likes of Cavanagh when the knew the game was more or less won and to be replaced players who made their own mark on the game.

This'll be good for Tyrone, a test but they should be getting by Armagh without showing too much of their hand as well. Armagh will show them no fear and are a decent side but I think Tyrone are operating at a different level from the majority in the country this summer and that should see them over the line comfortably enough in the end.

During the battle of breffni when armagh started fighting our lads I was nearly across the fence only for a steward floored me with a slap.

Hope Tyrone wipe the floor with yas.

When was that my good man? Hardly the time there was a wee scuffle during the start of the parade now was it? You Cavan folk are certainly a bunch of nancies. You'll find also that the match was indeed in the Athletic Grounds.

It's like dejavu right now reading these posts. Last week was the same. Kildare too strong, ran the Dubs close, they'll beat Armagh easy. Have to say I love it. We have no chance. Tyrone just have to turn up. We shall see.............

Trust me, I don't think you should let Cavan people talk for Tyrone only link they have with us is that a Tyrone man who teaches in Armagh is their manager. Being a Tyrone fan working in Armagh I can see first hand the optimism of their fans and why wouldn't they be? The back door is good for teams to build momentum. 9 Years ago Tyrone were beat by Down and went onto win the AI through the back door.

Personally its great to have Armagh and Tyrone back in the thick of things!

I see the divil Micky Harte at the propaganda already in todays Irish New, trying to influence referee decisions - suggesting Armagh (and others)are the instigators of foul play and his poor innocent lads are on the receiving end of poor card issuing decisions by referees .

lol - if you watch the YouTube footage of that game - it was Cavan that charged into the Armagh lads who were standing behind the wrong fleg so technically Cavan started the fighting and got their a**es handed to them.

Armagh have been a breath of fresh air this year no doubt and are building a new team, but like ourselves, this game will be a step too far for both of our teams. Let's hope that we can put it up to the 2 favorites and maybe run them close to a shock.

DooReg - I had that much beer in me I was confused. Anyway - everyone knows that these are the two most cyncial counties in the history of the GAA and have dived their way to 4 all irelands between then in the last 15 years. Expect the CCCC will be busy in the weeks that follow this match.

My god foxes-denn did armagh do something to you

Armagh v Tyrone is great derby game - the 2005 semi final was one of the great games...

Who can rember the 2006 McKenna Cup game in the old Casement park -26,000 at it in the middle of January, no other counties could draw that crowd for a match in Mc Kenna/O'Byrne/McGrath Cup etc...

Surely not only GAA but every sport out there - cycling, netball, golf the list goes on and on - ban both of them and Donegal and Monaghan for that matter and perhaps then Cavan could win an Ulster title!

It's hard to know how good Tyrone are but I can't see Armagh being able to get close to them.
It's a tough one for Malachy O'Rourke and I'm sure he is having a few sleepless nights trying to plot the downfall of the 'invincibles'. Monaghan have played Dublin quite often though in recent years and generally make life difficult for them but it would be a major surprise if they were to knock the holders out. It's unfortunate for Monaghan that their stalwart full-back seems to be going through an iffy period, and that McCarronn has failed to build on his early season form. I'm sure every neutral would love to see them upset the odds.

And you expect any of us to take any of your posts seriously when you thought it was the battle of briefne?? My guess is you weren't even there. Likely in the pub watching based on your response.

There is no way you can accuse any Armagh team of diving. I will take any criticism of too tough, borderline tackling etc but diving is not in our makeup. Unfortunately, the Tyrone team of 2003 & 2005 could be accused of that (their 2007 team was much more honest) so I take that comment like your previous one - full of ignorance
