Hurling championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Another weekend of fixtures ahead in the SHC with some good games expected. Calry and Coolera should be an interesting one, wouldn't surprise me if coolera came out with a win here, Calry have been poor in their recent games and have been lucky not to lose at least one of them. Naomh Eoin need a win against Tourlestane to get their intentions up and running of making the semi's. Great to see Tubber back in the senior fold again after a number of years absent from the grade, playing a good western gaels team, would like to see them get a win here just to keep the ball rolling in their revival.

theres not a chance tubber will beat W.G ,they v only one hurler ,they l be trying to keep the score down, but i do think coolera and naoimh eoin could collect wins which opens the hole thing up

Looks like Tubber had to concede to western gaels, let's hope that's not the end of their year as they're down to play Naomh Eoin next week again, I know they were unfortunate with some injuries to key players recently so that obviously played a part in the walk over. Calry don't seem as strong this year, seem very labored in their recent games, they have being going for quite a while now, it's a great opportunity for one of the other teams to make the breakthrough this year.

Some big results from the games over the weekend. Western gaels beating calry was a huge outcome, 1st time calry lost in the championship for a few years.
Coolera hammering tourlestane too shows they're a team to watch for the semi finals, I hear they have a number of keys players back in the team this year?
All to play for in the final round, naomh eoin need to beat w.gaels and for tourlestane to lose against calry for them to have a chance of going through, must be the most open hurling championship for years, great to see!

Yes ...its all down to the last round. Presuming ???.....that Calry beat Tourlestrane and that Coolera beat Tubber the last semifinal spot will be decided by the Naomh Eoin v Western Gaels game. If Naomh Eoin win or draw they go through but if they lose TOURLESTRANE are through. Am I reading this right ?

Wouldn't be writing the demise of Calry just yet. looks like they fielded a weakened team. Think they have lost a couple in the championship over the past few years. Good to see a more open championship alright

See the Calry v Tourlestrane is now changed to Scarden ???? If a clubs pitch is not playable should the game not revert to the opposing teams home venue ????????????????

Opposition pitch probably unplayable as well. Tourlestrane and Tubbercurry pitches were closed during the week and all u.12 games for Markievicz Park this week also were called OFF

My apologise tommy murphy heard it was actually tourestrane who had weakened team not carly ,tourestrane will have to fancy themselves to beat W.G ,they already did n the 1st round with a weakened team,so may b there time to get back to county final ,dont know when they where n one b4 or won it the last time ?

The great hurling day has arrived THE ALL IRELAND HURLING FINAL !!!!!! Sadly very few Sligo hurling people will be there due to lack of tickets. I understand each club got three tickets. The rest were given by our County Board to Sponsors and to the RICH people who bought €1500 Club Sligo tickets. I doubt if any of those gang are coaching underage hurling teams ???????????????????

Dont forget the County Board Executives both past & present that have no time for Hurling in Sligo & look down their noses at those that try to keep the game alive in the county are all sitting in Croke Park today enjoying the game while the Hurling men sit at home in front of the TV.

Let's face it. Sligo are poor at hurling. It's not going to change. No history or tradition of the small ball game up here.
