Nobody's saying Galway aren't a strong dual county, just giving their opinion that Galway won't do the double this year. Is that not allowed or do you need to get your knickers in a twist?

Why couldnt they do it? At no point did i say they couldnt do it. If Galway beat Kerry, which is posible believe it or not, no one would fancy playing them in the semi's, hurlers will be expected to beat Tipp. If the thread is so stupid why are you commenting on it? candlewax (Galway) - Posts: 284 - 27/07/2017 23:46:10 2024706 Link 0 |
I wouldn't dismiss the hurlers.

I wouldn't mind him Flaker. He never rates Galway in either code, but we Galwegians are well used to that green-eyed monster. :)

They won't win the football this year. The hurlers are the best team in the country at the moment and let's hope they do it in September.Joe Canning will be 30 next year.A special talent.Time for him to win his senior All-Ireland. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2170 - 28/07/2017 03:20:25 2024732 Link 0 |
I expressed an opinion on a thread that asked a simple question. I responded with a simple and honest answer. Put your money where your mouth is. €1,000 says Galway won't do the double this year. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 28/07/2017 04:39:50 2024734 Link 0 |
Arrah would you go away with this stupid thread scan! MTS (Galway) - Posts: 279 - 28/07/2017 07:32:52 2024737 Link 0 |
Footballers have no chance of an all Ireland in next couple of years and the all the pressure is on the hurlers. It's almost 30 years since they won an All Ireland and have only won 4 and lost something like 21 finals. I'd expect them to beat Tipp comfortably but the pressure and expectation around Galway will go to levels never seen before after the semi final and it depends how they cope with that. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 28/07/2017 08:34:23 2024746 Link 0 |
, firstly read the title of the thread it's a question you fool , thus it invites opinions , didn't say only for posters born from self righteous counties like Galway ,

Yes, it would be the shock of the year if they did. Let's look at Donegal's issues: 1. team in transition 2. demoralised (2016 Tyrone lucky to beat them; 2017 Tyrone hammer them - how do you cope with evidence of such a decline in your team) 3. 13 men, first-choice goalie and main man Murphy off the pitch Kerry has no such issues; beating a decent Cork team handily enough and looked razor-sharp in attack with two great leaders in attack. Look it's sport, anything can happen, but Trump converting to Islam is more likely essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 1141 - 28/07/2017 09:37:46 2024768 Link 0 |
As a Galwayman I'd really love it if this happened but realistically 2001 was the closest we have come to winning a double in the history of the GAA and I think we are a long way off it. The_DOC (Galway) - Posts: 708 - 28/07/2017 09:56:06 2024777 Link 0 |
That lad wouldn't know a Hurley from a brush. Follows the footballers because they are winning but never at a hurling match I'd say in his life.

Little chance im afraid but it says a lot about the county that we have two very strong teams in both codes.. Galway Gaa in general is triving and many counties would kill for our success.... Belclare1 (Galway) - Posts: 1626 - 28/07/2017 10:51:51 2024805 Link 2 |

One or two games can change peoples perception tho. Tipp were lucky to beat Derry last year and probably even more lucky to beat Galway in hurling semi. Tipp supporters were on cloud 9 in September, after a great year for a lot of their teams. This year has the exact opposite feel at the min. Things and peoples perceptions of reality can change very quickly! tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 28/07/2017 12:19:01 2024838 Link 0 |
Galway footballers have been embarrassed by Tipp and Roscommon in back to back seasons... jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 28/07/2017 12:35:29 2024846 Link 0 |
Not sure why they wouldn't be favourites? Winning all around them and a league title. Hammered Tipp that day too and Tipp haven't exactly been gold standard. Plus they are down one of their best players due to internal problems. Makes perfect sense why they'd be slight favourites GameOfTyrones (Tyrone) - Posts: 469 - 28/07/2017 15:21:23 2024949 Link 0 |
