Interesting game ahead. With all due respect to Offaly, Dublin and Wexford, Galway haven't been tested yet in this championship despite all the hype being generated about them. This is their first big test. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3097 - 25/07/2017 14:39:08 2023263 Link 0 |

It looks like 99% are writing Waterford off. That is great. A win for them and if Galway do get through, look out for a much more even final than most predict. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 2671 - 29/07/2017 18:12:07 2025420 Link 0 |
This thread is about Galway/Tipp.

I believe I mentioned Galway that automatically has reference to Tipperary. Other posters mentioned Waterford. Are you the self appointed moderator ?

Ok one for the non tipp people, just say Tipp beat Galway, which I personally don't see, will tipp be stopped by the winner of other semi? Tipptipp (Tipperary) - Posts: 62 - 30/07/2017 12:14:44 2025807 Link 0 |
But he hasn't played since the cork match?? People forget that all his worst performances bar none have come against galway since he joined the panel. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 31/07/2017 11:47:38 2026548 Link 0 |
The whole Barrett thing is blowing up, he wouldn't be playing even if he was on panel as he wouldn't be fit in time.

Galway remain untested hopefully Tipp can exploit that as well Galway maybe rusty with the 6 week break but they look formidable I just don't see Tipp winning. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 31/07/2017 18:16:19 2026842 Link 0 |
If we don't bring a huge work rate and a good game plan on Sunday Galway could hurt us. Have a feeling Mick Ryan and Co might have something up the sleeve for this game.

Hope your right in 2015 Galway couldn't handle Callinan. In 2016 Callinan had a quite game but did a lot of unselfish work. Big games needed from 8-15 if we get on top there defence will take care of itself. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 31/07/2017 19:57:13 2026888 Link 0 |
yes realtmo you are talking sense Barret wouldn't be fit anyway tiobraidArann (Tipperary) - Posts: 362 - 31/07/2017 20:22:28 2026905 Link 0 |
Donagh Maher, James Barry and Mouse is suppose to be the full line. I'd go with Cahill myself big game player with loads of experience. I can see Seamie playing away from full forward bringing Burke out of fullback leaving John Mc at full forward and Henbury playing fullback. therealtmo (Tipperary) - Posts: 1292 - 31/07/2017 21:18:14 2026956 Link 0 |
hope im wrong but i have a feeling Galway will blitz Tipp in this one SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2386 - 31/07/2017 21:39:05 2026977 Link 0 |
I hope you are right. We have to play with two orthodox corner backs or else we will definitely lose this one. I like Hamill and I really respect how much he has matured as a player over the last year or two but he is not a full back. He is an out and out half back. Barry isn't the first cousin of a corner back. Regardless of the sport, the best teams are always balanced in their team selections and if that means playing the best 15 players for the positions as opposed to the best 15 players then so be it. The forward equivalent to this would be dropping Bonnar for forde, you'd have a wristier hurler but he wouldn't win you half as much ball. The closer I get to the game the slightly more optimistic I am. Even though I still don't think we will win! It's correct- Galway are completely untested to date. They haven't been tested since the League q final. Tipp's full forward line is the line that will need to put the scores on the board to win but I actually think our half forward line has the beating of the Galway half back line. McInerney and Mannion are still new (to their positions at least). If McCormack, Bonner and Noel can shade that line I think Tipp can win. If he moves Barry back to full back I think we will be ok in the full back line too. Galway have a poor goal scoring record for the last few years. Tipp haven't been as free scoring this year but I think it will probably come down to who can score goals. Galway have put up huge scores so far but 2 goals in 3 games leaves Tipp with a small degree of hope! tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 01/08/2017 08:17:32 2027116 Link 0 |
I hope you're right as it will be nice to see someone else lift Liam rather than KK or Tipp. There's a different pressure on Galway, the tag of favourites which normally doesn't sit well with them, but this team seem different. O'Donoghue has them playing as a team, Joe is now pulling the strings and not having to do it all. The Cooney's, Niall and Joe (no relations), Conor Whelan, Mannion, they've as good a set of forwards as Tipp and probably more inclined to win their own ball that the Tipp sextet and better physically conditioned than previous years. Yes it took them a while to get to grips with Wexford, but the result was never in doubt. Daithi Burke will put the clamps on whoever in blue and gold cares to venture into his zone but there is a few lessons to be learned as Wexford did get a few goal chances when they put a few men up the field. Tipp have been limping along, scoring big but leaking big as well. Clare had their chances to get the goal that they needed to close the gap late on in the second half, but wrong decisions and the ref turning a blind eye to Tipp indiscretions aided Tipp on to a bigger margin than they deserved. They'll go like hell at Galway to unnerve the men from the West and if it doesn't pay off due to the Galway defence getting it together as a unit then the Galway forwards will make the Tipp full back line pay in spades. Expectation is now the biggest issue for Galway. bricktop (Down) - Posts: 2503 - 01/08/2017 09:30:06 2027144 Link 0 |
so you want one of those one way traffic games that's over at half time as long as Galway win bricktop? Im going to the game as a neutral and would like to see a close contest. That's all that was meant by that. Good luck to both! SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2386 - 01/08/2017 12:40:19 2027303 Link 0 |
