Replying To TheHermit:  "I'll take Fitzgerald and Austin Stacks any day over what Meath put up with, you might think a pitch is what supporters care about in a ground but I'm pretty sure they are thinking of other things like I dunno, a decent view, a decent seat, shelter from the elements, ease of access, location, toilets etc etc etc.

Any way whenever they get around to doing up Navan I'm sure I'll see you on the 6:01 News chained to the old stand shouting "you shall not pass" :D"
You should know that the most important part of any grounds is the pitch and without the players there would be no need for spectators like yourself or myself. By the way the 6.01 news or any other' red herring ' you wish to introduce has little to do with the topic being discussed.

Casement Park has to be the worst ground. Pitch and stands are covered in weeds and over grown grass. Hate to play there ;)

The pitch in Fitzgerald stadium is excellent.

Replying To kildare73:  "You obviously aren't a credible judge of pitches considering St. Conleth's was judged runner up to Semple as the best pitch in the country. I presume that's the corners, both ends, the whole lot! Facilities aren't good but extensive renovations are in the pipeline for the ground as a whole, but don't down grade what is an excellent pitch. Have to cut you some slack though seeing as you are viewing things from the 'USA'!"
Surface of Newbridge is excellent but the grounds men have to deal with large lumps and bumps that would require a major pitch redevelopment to rid itself of. In terms of day to day surface maintenance its brilliant but again its too tight at the town end and the corner flag beside the dressing room rises like a pitchers base in baseball. Just have a walk around the next time your there.
Completely appreciate the fact that refurbishment is on the way but this opinion is based on the current state of affairs.

Based on your assessment, there must be an awful lot of crap pitches in the country then. How did Newbridge end up rated second?? The criteria was best pitch in the country, not just best surface. Just to point out, I've walked around it lots and lots of times, in all weathers and it's held up really well. Hence it's rating. We'll just have to agree to disagree my friend.
