The Downs and Kinnegad were always hardy hoors from my memory.

Shamrocks in Enniscorthy, a sound bunch of lads but they don't mind mixing it on their own patch. Sometimes it would be easier to lose a game their than trying to escape down the "lane" from Fr Murphy Park !!

Quick question for you guys bound to stir the pot here...

What was the Toughest Club Team you've ever played against..

Now this could be down to either sheer skill or just a pure dirty team...

Shoot me a couple of teams"
St Mikes in Toronto but we always had their number in Durham Emmet's.

Laois hurling, Camross tough and hard but generally fair. Strong physical mountainy men farming and forestry workers. Castletown and Clonaslee maybe a little more dirty than hard!

Laois football. Arles/Kilcruise and Ballylinan wouldn't be simple. Timahoe have a few feisty players at present. Stradbally in the Barney Maher era, 1990s were well able to mix it. Traditionally in football Portlaoise have generally been a footballing team. In hurling they had to mix it with Camross in the 1980s and early 1990s to compete. Grainy video from around 1989 link below of one County Final that had a 'shamozzle'.

In that clip at 14 sec in see the Portlaoise fella at the top right on the ground gets pulled on with a few tasty ones.

Toomevara in their day were tough as hell. Been on the end of some bad beatings from them. We once played 4 in midfield against them to keep the score down. We only scored 3 points but they didn't score much either!!
Thurles Sarsfields now very hard to beat in Tipperary championship it's theirs to lose almost every year now. Gave them a few walk overs no point playing them.

I'll second that. Played them in the sandy banks in first round of the championship on the way to winning the County Title and it was the toughest game of that campaign. Animals and the supporters were worse.

The only club thrown out of the Dublin SFC twice. I played a game there where their manager came in and broke a hurl across our full back's back. It was a football match!!

While we're sharing video clips, just watch the first 20 seconds of this one!! There'd be 3 or 4 frees and a couple of yellow cards if not a red in today's game!

St Johns Belfast.
If you take your eye off the man marking you you may find yourself leaving the pitch with less bones intact than when you arrived !!

Cargin Toomebridge...hard as nails but ultimately tough but fair country team
