Mayo taking over the HILL in 2006

Replying To Find_the_space:  "To be honest I think if any team did this nowadays they would get battered. I wouldn't want to give Dublin any excuse to get motivated. The best time to get in their faces from the throw in and not before it. Football has moved a long way since 2006 physically and mentally. The way to beat Dublin is getting scores on the board not handbags.

To be fair if Croke Park is not officially Dublin's home ground they should not always be given the home dressing room, the hill end to warm up at especially when "Home Advantage" rule shouldn't apply (e.g. Round 4 Qualifiers - AI Final) I'm not aware of how HQ determine who gets what dressing room when it comes to two travelling teams e.g Tyrone v Kerry."
Yes the dressing rooms are designated in alphabetical order....so Dublin would have been truly fecked if they had to play Carlow at CP. We dodged a bullet there.

Yeah we haven't crossed the line which is a real pain but at least we are challenging and not giving up....there is no alternative. Whats Kildare's excuse?"
He is clearly just another keyboard warrior who thinks he can get a few cheap laughs at Mayo's expense with the same jokes that are churned over and over again, oblivious to the irony of his own county being nowhere near the level Mayo have being operating at over the same period of time. I'd wager you'll be waiting for any type of coherent reply.

Tyrone won their first Ulster in 11years in 1984. They met all-Ireland champs Dublin in the semi final and sent out first went down to the hill, the Dubs followed suit and all 30 players kicked about the hill. It was all knockabout stuff but certainly this was Big Art saying Tyrone were arriving on the big stage.

I didn't know that. So if Armagh play Dublin in the QFs they will get the Hill to warm up at and the "home" dressing room?

Or maybe they only got into their heads with 15 mins to go"
Mayo were 6 points to 1 up before Dublin knew where they were. So you could say they were rattled but we'll never know for sure. Looking at them pulling back whelan as he marched towards the hill it is hard to imagine it didn't impact some of the players at some level at the start.

In theory yes.

It's done as Gaeilge so only Antrim and Armagh would be there ahead of Dublin.

Still though Mayo sort of bricked it when they saw the green and gold in the final

Perhaps even peaked against Dublin

Given the decent game that Dublin gave Kerry the following year

I think Dublin would have performed better against Kerry but we'll never know as Mayo deservedly took their chances and won.

I don't know (am sure someone does) if there is any official ruling on dressing rooms being related to where ye warm up.

Tradition is a big aspect of our game. The Hill atmosphere had been great for the game. The Dubs warmed up in front of their own fans and opposing fans traditionally had the canal end. In all the advantages cited towards Dublin , I find it hard to believe that warming up is yet another one. The better teams relish putting it up to the hill so why not leave this one as it is.

No it's done in Irish in alphabetical so the Dubs go under Atha Claith.

Good answer. Maybe that was why Armagh went to the hill to kick in during the 2003 qualifier.

I remember it well, there was a huge melee on the Hill that day. Big Joe McNally scored a brilliant goal and I think we won by 8 or 9.
