The dream continues. Unreal achievement by Multy.
It's a great story because they are a genuine junior team as such and weren't even favourites at the start of the year to win in the county. There are not an intermediate team that just dropped down which were looking to bounce back.
Just looking at the early JFC group results, Kilbeggan beat them by 10 points in the first round. Ballynacargy beat them by 7 in the third round. Granted these results were reversed in the return fixtures but it goes to show you.
In the Leinster JFC, they had to travel to Wicklow and Wexford and won (the latter by a point over Crossabeg / Ballymurn)In the final they defeated hot favourites from Offaly, Erin Rovers by 7 points.
But the win in Hyde Park sounded just incredible and will now fear no-one.
A great lift for football in the county.

Will any of their players make an impact at county level? I know Ronan Wallace was full back for the 21s last year so he will be involved.
Off the top of my head in the past 5 years or so players of the calibre of Darren O'Sullivan, Ciaran Kilkenny, Peter Kelly have won the all Ireland Junior club and are all-stars, so it really is a high standard of football to get to this level. I hope they enjoy the day out and go and finish the job, as the previous poster said its been a tough run and they are there on merit. Fairplay.

I would say Anthony McGivney has serious potential.

Good luck to Multy and hope they can do what Clonkill did ten years ago and bring All Ireland glory to Westmeath.

My memories of Multy from my playing days were sheep on a strip of land with goalposts either end, no markings or flags and no dressing rooms, and barely able to field a team. Well done Multy on how far you have come and best wishes for tomorrow the whole of Westmeath is behind you!

Good luck to Multy, a great chance for them as long as they don't let the occasion get to them too much. Bit harsh on Clonkill there chops, I believe they beat wexford, Kilkenny and Galway teams the year they won it. Westmeath senior hurling teams could still be competing in the intermediate championship if Clonkill didn't win it when they did.

What are the thoughts on this year's championship? Bal, Finea and Kilbeggan will all fancy their chances and you can never write off Pauls.

Bal all the way but a lot of us said the same last year !
They've been playing the higher standard in div 2 of league although looks like relegation is on the cards.
If they have everyone they must be favourites ?

Plenty of chat about here about the Senior and Intermediate Football Championship so I said I'd try and give the Junior clubs a chance.........
Its obviously between Kilbeggan and Ball but any dark horses that could cause an upset? What are the bigger clubs second teams like? Could one of them cause an upset?
