Junior Football Championship

I would still rate Bal as the strongest team to go from Intermediate to Junior in the last 6/7 years. It was a bit of a shock they got relegated in the first place. I wouldn't rate them among the strongest Intermediate teams, but would definitely rate them ahead of 3/4 currently in the Intermediate grade. They had a bad year last year for whatever reason. They have had a good league campaign and put away Paul's fairly comfortably, something recent relegated teams have not been able to do. It really is Bal's to lose unless Multy show an extra gear or two they haven't shown before.

Anyone any insight in to the strength of the Senior club teams?

As for the other Junior group, i expect it to be tight. Standard not great but atleast competitive.

A major statement of intent made by Multy alright. It just goes to show that any team is beatable on a given day. Bal should recover but it makes things interesting for the next 1-2 rounds alright.

There's no doubt that Bal will bounce back but it's a sign that Multy are finding more gears. Gonna be interesting. The fact everyone has to play twice means anything could happen yet including in the relegation spot.

Some interesting results in the Junior at the weekend. Huge win for Multy, will this be there year finally? Pauls will be kicking themselves for letting Kilbeggan back into their match. Delvin looked stronger than Josephs for long periods but in the end lucky to get a draw. And Ballycomoyle too strong for Loughnavalley. Wednesday's games should be interesting.

The multy defeat will do bal no harm, they thought they would just walk this junior championship that defeat will make them take it more serious.. i still expect them to win it but Multy will put it up to them..

I agree it's not who won the battle it's who wins the war

Multy know they can beat Ballynacargy now. They have to make sure they don't take the eye off the ball against St Paul's next round.

Does anyone fancy anyone from the second group to spring a surprise? Do top two from that group go to the knock out stages?

Think one each from groups 1,2,3 and 4 make quarters. Top 2 in group 1 straight to semis. That's my understanding of it even though I heard different things earlier in year.

Looks like Group 2 could be a right battle between Delvin and St Joseph's.

I see the tables give score difference but do the final standings go on score difference or head to head? Or do the top 2 play off?

I don't know under this new format. Previous years it was head to head if two teams were tied. Scoring difference if there was more.
The exception was that team couldn't be knocked out of the championship completely by these means. Under this new system only one team can make it out of the group and remain in championship so maybe a playoff would be needed. I wouldn't go by the website. It's programmed to automatically update the table using scoring difference.

Do the top 2 from group 2 not make the quarter final?

Massive win for multy yesterday looked impressive having lost to St pauls in the league l thought it would be closer but multy really increased everything . They break well pace to burn tackle well and really take the game to teams . Next game vs bal will see what they are made of looking forward to it.

As both Bal and Multy are well on the way to qualifying for the latter stages, they may not take the next meeting too seriously. I don't see either Pauls or Kilbeggan threatening their progress.
