Waterford v Wexford

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I found it an intriguing enough game. I tipped Waterford before today to reach the final but can't see them doing it without de burca now. Wexford have improved no end but can davie out two years back to back?
Waterford have ridiculously good forwards on the bench. Surely need to get more of these on the field.
Another big game by Matthew ohanlon: he now has canning in one pocket and Gleason in the other!

Looking at the game today, and yesterday, really makes it a year for the men from the west,.galway will not be beaten ,it's their time, and maybe it's good for hurling, sadly my own team seem to be in big trouble, what a turnaround from last year

Replying To Damothedub:  "Have to disagree , Wexford are not physically at the races compared to the top teams and have had to play a different game , they are not the finished article didn't think too many people thought they were , but to say no improvement well this time last year you couldn't compete with your camogie team"
You from Wexford? Good to see you backing your county...

I dunno what was worst the decision to send off DeBurca or Tyrell and O'Grady backing it on the Sunday game.

It obviously suited O'Grady to say it was a red with Waterford potentially facing Cork next. Ken McGrath looked seriously pissed off after that discussion.

Why are people claiming it was a bad decision?

It happened literally right in front of me as I was pitchside and it literally 5 yards from the linesman. Kehoe checked de burca to stop him making a run down the sideline and de burca reacted by grabbing him by the face guard and pulling the face guard off him.

Kehoe had to get a different helmet as de burca had actually broken the straps and he couldn't strap it back up.

It may be a harsh rule by the letter of the law it's a red card all day long.

There is nothing harsh about it, the rule is there to stop neck injuries. Plenty more should be sent off for it and it'll soon stop.
Re the match, it was awful. But, both Derek McGrath and Davy are fully allowed to play the game the way they want to. The proof is in the pudding, if it wins then who cares, will it win? I have massive doubts.

Terrible game. Painful to watch. It's not the players' fault though. Seeing so many misplaced passes demonstrates exactly what hurling purists have been saying forever: it's insanely difficult to be precise enough to play that type of game, especially when your forwards are always outnumbered. Maurice Shanahan's last point summed up the failure of the whole short passing project. Leathering the ball down the field with 15 on 15 is the only way to play hurling where there will be an actual contest for the ball. It's natural to hurling. That's why it's the best game in the world. Stop tinkering with it cos you're ruining it managers!
