Replying To Thomas Clarke:  "He didn't keep them in D2 - they were relegated this year.

So you're telling me that McGrath, who started in D3 and finished in D3, has been more successful than all those others? Let's not let McGrath's name and intercounty record (albeit from 25 years ago) fool us - he did an ok job with Fermanagh, but nothing more than any of his predecessors did.

I'm not saying that the next Fermanagh manager will do any better, but McGrath didn't do enough in his 4 years to warrant the outcry that his ousting has generated."
He was 3 years there not 4 years. He kept them in d2 last year the went down this when results on the last day went against them. Yes I think getting them to a all ireland q final and getting them up to d2 and keeping them up last year is better then winning a preseason competition.

He was there 4 years.
Failed to get promoted in 2014, exited to Antrim in the first round of the ulster championship and then against laois in the first round of the qualifiers.
2015 saw promotion and an AI QF appearance
2016 stayed in division 2, beat antrim but lost to Donegal in Ulster. Lost to Mayo in qualifiers
2017 saw relegation and 2 championship losses with zero wins.

Replying To Damothedub:  "A lot of assumptions being posted here as fact , number one Mc Garth an authoritarian, two his methods out dated ,as has been stated already lads know Mcgraths date of birth but no one on here can state any facts as to what went on , all we know is one side of a story lads questioning substitutions etc try keeping to that , looking at a coach and making an assumption he hasn't evolved without anything to back it up other than his DOB is poor posting , lads may very well turn out to be right in the long run but as of now your doing two plus two"
you dont mind a simplistic argument when it suits your own, so spare us the lecture, the players know a lot more than any of us do, so leave the bias aside and acknowledge that, i think fermanagh posters are a lot more likely to understand whats been going on also

Replying To browncows:  "but what happens when the players are not up to it- they just blame the manager. Good players know their strengths and weakness while mediocre players think that they are good when the opposite is the truth. Mayo did not yet benefit from a change yet, as indeed the same can be said for may counties who change managers."
i feel they did benefit, got closer than they had under the previous management, leave the bias out and acknowledge that, we blew them away in the semi under the previous management when it came to winning time, the same didnt happen under the current management, now they havent gotten the ultimate benefit but it did result in an improvement and gave them a better chance to win

Fair enough my mistake. My point was he did well with the available talent to him. It is a pity it ended badly for all concerned. But just because it did doesn't mean the good he brought to Fermanagh football should be forgot.

I am not surprised that you would think that considering the way they scored two goals for you first day out and then proceeded to leave out one of the best keeps for the replay!
