Stop the Hand Slap Goal

Replying To Gavvygavgav:  "if he's decreasing the momentum of the object and then applying a force to increase the momentum of the object while changing its trajectory then he is in essence catching and throwing the ball. This doesn't occur in all of the 'handslap' goals but it does in a great many instances."
Are you, in fact, Tommy Tiernan?

More like something from Flann O'Brien if you ask me.

Make your mind up: do you want to talk physics or play dumb?

Are you a virtual reality experiment?

Nah, just someone who I thought you wanted to discuss physics with. But it appears you got a little out of your depth and decided to return to the safer, shallow waters of simulated weak humour.

Good luck

Listen Gav, if you think a closed fist is easier to execute at close range then you don't deal in reality.

one of the worst aspects of Gaelic football is where a player slaps/palms the ball into the net, I personally dread looking at such goals, 9/10 it marginal if the scorer does be actually in the box when the pass is made, easily solve that by increasing the box size by a a metre or 2... similar the fellah that solo's the whole way through, no one to beat but the keeper and hand passes instead of kicking the ball over the bar!!!..cannot understand it all...a score should come from the foot, anywhere below th

You can't understand it? Didn't play yourself then? Otherwise you would understand it.

You avoid all discussion when the differences between facts and ridiculous hypothetic opinions are highlighted. Running away answering different questions to those you were asked, like a child. People agree and people disagree with opinions in forums. If you ever realise that some posters might take your opinions seriously.

I think stop all scores using fists, tired of getting excited for a goal chance and then they fist it over the bar, happy with a point but very anti climax

I played and coach and I know that handpassing over the bar is a load of rubbish. Just because it's easy doesn't mean it's correct. Why not just let players pick the ball off the ground? It'd be easier after all.

Team is in control of a game and doesn't need a goal, easy point is on with a fist over the bar. It's in the rules and is the right thing to do at certain times. I was responding to a poster who said he can't understand why it happens. Surely anyone with half an interest in a game situation would know why it happens.

most of these goals are actually pushed in

that is the way teams are being coached
handpass the ball across to the free man running through at the far post and palm it to the net

Exactly, the best way of breaking down a blanket defence at speed. It is what it is.

I am not speaking literally when I say I dont understand it..its like I cannot fathom why players do it.. I hope you are never misunderstood, and smart as you are I did play thankfully when this slapping the ball into the net was seldom if ever seen..its called "gaelic football" and while the handpass is part and accepted in the game I always mainained all scores should come from the foot or boot...any keeper who sees a goal developing to be slapped in should take man ball and all...its a shocking sight to see the ball put into the net from point blank range with the slapping motion....
