Replying To Gavvygavgav:  "If he was arguing on his own behalf then yes. But he was arguing on behalf of the wider audience at large, many of whom might not have the money, the facility or the wherewithal to get Sky. So no."
The person he references was his father if duignan has it in his home could he not have let the father in to watch the game?
Where is the same level of criticism of the eir sports deal to show the Saturday night league games? Eir is not free to air or available to even virgin media customers full stop yet there's little condemning that deal.

Michael Duignan lives around 30 miles from his father, and again, whether he lets him look at a match in his house is not the issue, the issue is that SKY have the rights and SKY is subscription based service and NOT EVERYONE can afford likes to have such packages for various reasons, and your right SKY and Setanta or EIR wor whatever is the same..if the GAA are on so much about being Irish and steeped in history whats all the need to sell rights to SKY etc...again I point out that SKY appear on the most of it, to be getting the glamour Sat night games, RTE give us the early bird menu earlier in the evening....

Replying To Whammo86:  "Thanks for the tips but I know how to read a news report and be aware that they're subject to bias.

Whatever about my use of the term "rushed through" proposals, the super 8 section is changing the one part of the championship that didn't particularly need changed. Not that I'm necessarily against the Super 8, I just think it should've been coupled with more games earlier in the championship. Overall the new proposals make good changes by reducing the number of replays and by also cutting down the gaps between matches. So I'm not on here just to complain about the new championship, despite having concerns over the affect it could have on competitiveness.

Back to my original point. Taking information from a number of these articles it feels to me that the GAA is finding things tight financially. That worries me.

It's just my perception of things but I feel I've shown that I'm not just pulling this out of my arse. I've provided a hell of a lot more evidence for an opinion than is usually produced by people on this site."
Fair enough!

Are we saying we'd be happier if RTE was the sole TV broadcaster of live GAA games? TV3 are unlikely to do it before 2021 as they have the 6 Nations until then. However Denis Naughton has removed the 6 Nations from the compulsory free-to-air list, so in 2021 TV3 might be more interested in broadcasting live GAA.

For me RTE radio GAA coverage is excellent. However their live TV, highlights shows and Player options could do with improving. Their new Director General is looking for an increase in licence fees while talking about improving the Player. From contacting the Player support they don't seem to open-minded to suggestions from the public. Anyways, if anyone has suggestions for them their e-mail is : [email protected].

If they keep going asking for more licence money and largely ignoring the advertising revenue possibilities by improving GAA TV coverage there will be no RTE in 2021.
