Replying To Redhot:  "You are probably right because a Kerry person would know all about the game of hurling"
This is an absurd comment. There is a hotbed of hurling in North Kerry and Kilgarvan. Johnny Quirke, 4 in a row winning Ireland hurler was from Milltown.

I think that it was Clare they wasted a lot of scoring chances which if they had scored they probably would have beat cork"
Yer hardest game will be in five years time when ye are going for the five in a row.

Yes excellent points backing up what woops posted. He/she gave an opinion. You might not agree with it but as Slayer has pointed out winning Munster is no guarantee of All Ireland success. An apology would be appropriate.

in my own humble opinion i think winning munster is a disadvantage because of the lay off 5 to 6 weeks approx. but giving this young cork team i can only imagine the drive it has giving them to reach an all ireland, and having the rest of 5 - 6 weeks could be a good thing around this time as the effort and fitness they brought to winning munster was a huge stretch on any team. other than that id expect galway still to be favourites at this stage. i cant remember a team having to be at boiling point each day out just to get a shot at a munster title let alone win it what ever happens from here on in well done cork and congratulations on the turnaround from 12 months ago.

Well, we won the Munster championship playing three tough games. Clare was possibly the toughest of the three.

Next time we enter a completely separate competition with all three teams that we have beaten so far plus Galway and a resurgent Wexford. Every game we play will be even tougher again.

Having to wait 5 weeks might not be a good thing. I would make Tipp the favorites. I fancied them from the start of the year and I have seen nothing that has made me change my mind - even Galway and Cork performances.

Yes..he was a great Blackrock hurler..owned the Queen's hotel in Parnell Place (now part of Roches Stores)
One of the best in that 4 in a row team of the 1940's

Johnny Quirke was owner of Queen's Hotel near bus station...which became part of Roches Stores..then debenhams.
( I miss the old Cork....The Swan/Pig & Whistle etc)
Quirke on his day, was better than Ring, and also played on successful Rockies teams.
As regards the topic here...the game against Tipp was toughest. I

Firstly I know many a kerry man with a great knowledge of the game so please dont think that one stupid reflect the respect the rebel have for Kerry hurling/ knowledge / and the efforts that go in down there. I think tipp gave us our best test. In the other tow games cork seemed to be able counter any actions from Waterford/clare. Going forward its extremely hard to know. Every game we play its seem that we caught each team cold. I think Cork have changed this year. Attitude work rate team mentality. Is it too early for them to win liam .. Potentially. Iv fancied Galway from the off and hard to look past tipp either. But i cant wait to see what cork can do with the big open spaces of Croker. Its still been a massive year for cork coming from where we were. But its a funny one going forward. And put cork in croker for a final god knows what will happen .

Good post.

Is it too early for us to win Liam? No is my answer. We are two games away so we should be going for this one as if this is our last attempt ever. You never know, this is only our third(?? I think) semi this decade. We must believe we can win. I fancy Tipp as I said above. They have been settled longer than us. No time like now for Cork though.

... and to think David Leadbetter made a significant living teaching professionals how to play golf despite never even playing off single figures!
