I agree. I can't understand how 2 posters are allowed publish personal attacks on 2 of Limerick's best players. Both All Stars and both Munster Championship winners and both vital members of current squad. I will call them on it every time.

I'm sure they won't take the slightest bit of notice as it's so far off the mark. They beat us well fair and square and were very unlucky against Galway. I think the majority of Limerick fans have nothing but respect for the Banner men.

Richie English vs Conor Whelan. What a battle in store.

What a game we have ahead. No sweepers thank the lord.

No sweeper in the all-ireland final. Clare aren't in it at all. Maybe next year for them.
Limerick v Galway 15 on 15. It has the makings to be one of the greatest ever matches.

Hickey could be brought in to play sweeper. His experience would show there.

Replying To anotheryear:  "Galway are the opposition.... Whats everyones views on that? To me they are not as invincible as was tought of them throughout the year. will our Victory over them in Salthill stand to us? another great game today and hoping for one more in 2 weeks time and a Limerick victory.
#Luimneachabu"
Galway don't look as formidable this year, Limerick are performing at a high level, it's a 50:50 game.

I hope I'm wrong but after arriving back in the final the way they have Galway might not feel too much pressure on the 19th.. on the other side our boys will be super human if they don't feel the pressure.. in such an even contest this could be crucial..
This year Galway have won out after 3 really tight tense games (KK & Clare x2) they all have the 2017 all-ireland medal in the bank already... they looked weary at times but they possess 4 of the best hurlers in the country in the 2 Burkes, Canning and Padraig Mannion and at least 7 more that are top class, they won't be hot favorites despite Limericks past history so if they are fresh on the day these factors will make it an even bigger ask for Limerick I believe...

Ah please. Enough is enough

Getting back to it I guess the starting team will be unchanged. It would be a very brave decision to change things for the final. Dowling has definitely done enough to start but who could you possibly drop also whoever he would replace would not have the same impact off the bench. Also it would change the tactics which could unsettle us.
Downes coming on as a sub I guess would be one of the biggest surprises Kiely could spring on the day

My previous commitment not meant for you obviously LMK2012 (: Hopefully those ruining the thread with their own agendas will have their wings clipped shortly.
Yes it's a big task for Limerick but no All Ireland comes easy. I see Galway are short odds favourites with the bookies who are rarely wrong. That's rarely not never.

Or Hickey flying in on a parachute. Now that would be a good surprise.

1) Fitzy01 - I agree - almost certainly it will be team that started against Corcaigh.
2) Westfester - you're right too. This place has gone to the dogs.

Can't see Downes coming on before WOD, P.Casey, Dowling, Pat Ryan, nash & Reidy - in an Ireland final with not 1 munite of championship time under his belt.

Biggest worry for me is the aforementioned Mike Casey/Johnny Glynn battle. He is a beast of a man. If there is high balls pumped in it will be hard to stop Glynn.

I think Galway beating Clare was excellent for Limerick. It will be some challenge, but a way different game to what Clare would have been. It should make tickets some bit easier too - Clare had an enormous support there on Sunday.

Clare give the impression that nothing is off limits to win a game. Four sweepers, five if needed. A lot of pulling & dragging. Dave McInerny was holding his marker's hurley all day on Sunday. The strange thing is these tactics take from the plus side of their game - when Kelly, O'Donnell, Duggan etc get going they are a fine team.

The bookies have Galway at 4/7 & Limerick at 15/8. Great! Kiely and his players have their feet on the ground. Something seems different to years gone by. Can't wait for it. Seeing those Green & White jerseys running out onto the Croker pitch ...... awesome.

Those would ordinarily be hugely anticipated match-ups, Brud, but I think Hannon plays more as a zonal defender in this team marking the space rather than taking on a direct opponent. He was criticised by some on this forum (what a surprise!) for Conor Lehane's second-half 1-3 in the semi-final, but Hannon's role seems to be more about holding the space and not following his man out the pitch, which would be every defender's instinct to do, and instead act as a shield in front of the full-back, thereby cutting out supply to the opposition full-forward line. Besides, Canning tends to drift way out the field looking for ball these days or play as a wing-forward, as he did against Clare last Sunday, so it's unlikely that Hannon and he will have a lot of direct clashes - it will be some contest between two brilliant hurlers if they do, though! Gearoid Hegarty, likewise, comes very deep on puckouts and is usually used along with Tom Morrissey to launch Limerick attacks from deep, so he tends not have a direct marker, unless the wing-back follows him outfield, which then leaves huge space inside for the Limerick full-forward line. I can't see Galway doing that as the Kilkenny full-back line got torched by giving Limerick, and Gillane in particular, oceans of space last month. Mike Casey versus Johnny Glynn looks like it could be a straight old-style match up though. That would be worth the ticket price to see first hand, as would Richie English taking on Conor Whelan and Sean Finn coming up against Conor Cooney.
Either way, it's going to be epic, with tears guaranteed at the end. Luimneach abu!
