Two teams struggling for consistency and motivation. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1140 - 10/07/2017 09:54:39 2013725 Link 0 |
Mayo have not been impressive so far this year but doing enough to get over teams. It is almost a carbon copy of last year in that we seem to be sleepwalking through the qualifiers. I would not be writing Cork off and they are still dangerous. I would back us to win but these slow starts in games but be addressed. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11249 - 10/07/2017 10:03:03 2013739 Link 0 |
Cork wont be as bad again as they were v kerry. Plus we dont have the fire power that kerry possess. Lots of rumours on the venue, Pairc ui chaoimh mentioned! Surely it has to be neutral? Ennis likely as that is where we met previously in the 2 recent u21 finals unclegerry (Mayo) - Posts: 1222 - 10/07/2017 10:09:47 2013754 Link 0 |
I can't see Cork having any hope of winning this. I was in Killarney. Mayo are like revenging wolves; Cork are more like startled sheep. There is something terribly, terribly wrong in Cork football. Midleton (Cork) - Posts: 643 - 10/07/2017 10:16:08 2013766 Link 0 |
Depends which Mayo turn up, really. Start like we did against Clare and several other teams this season, and Cork will grow in confidence and have a good chance of victory. Start like we did in the second half the last day and it'll be hard to see us being beaten. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 10/07/2017 10:19:56 2013773 Link 0 |

I d love to see my neighbors win against mayo because it would be a great boost for them and Munster football (and Mayo worry me) but I can't see it to be honest, the cork management are totally out of their depth, I wouldn't put them coaching our U10 team as they have no clue about tactics or how to get the best out of their players. Great draw for Mayo. The more games they get under their belt the better are the prospects of getting to the last four. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 10/07/2017 13:07:19 2013970 Link 0 |
Its hard to see anything but a straightforward Mayo win here. Maybe there is one big performance in Cork but it's very unlikely that they can raise it enough to beat a battle hardened Mayo team. GeniusGerry (Kerry) - Posts: 2105 - 10/07/2017 13:27:24 2014002 Link 0 |
Comfortable win here for mayo, there improving every game and if they get into last 8 then they will want Roscommon they haven't gone away yet. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 708 - 10/07/2017 13:47:10 2014036 Link 0 |
I think you have hit the nail on the head, at times Mayo are unplayable, storming forward and can't miss, at other times they look a group of lads that were picked up from the pub beforehand. I truly believe if they could put together a consistent 70+ minutes they could win the All-Ireland. However they are very inconsistent during certain periods of the match.

Heard the game is in Limerick, great to see the GAA being neutral, what map are they looking at to see that Limerick is halfway between Cork and Mayo, it will take over 4 hours for people in north Mayo to get to Limerick, most in Cork won't even decide whether to go to the game or not until an hour or 2 before the throw in, Mayo co board should grow a pair and demand a change of venue for example Ennis, Cork don't have a history of travelling for away matches unless it's a final in large numbers so majority of the crowd would be Mayo supporters and Ennis coped well with the crowd last Saturday. Thankfully I still have my opt out option and will use it for this fixture, I and a fair few in my area won't be crossing south of the Shannon for this game riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 10/07/2017 14:07:01 2014066 Link 0 |

I wonder if Mayo Mick will return to the scene of the crime in Limerick lol. You really couldn't blame the poor man for losing his head as there were some poor decisions by the ref that day.

I heard he is reffing it ;) Seriously though what is wrong with Ennis for this game? Mayo fans will travel and the GAA know that Cork don't. IF Mayo were to beat Cork, Mayo will be back in Croker the following weekend. That is a hell of a lot of expense and travel. I am not complaining as I love it but for those with young families etc. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11249 - 10/07/2017 14:53:08 2014133 Link 1 |
