Consistency??

They were similar, but not the same. In the Connolly incident, the linesman was stationary and Connolly went towards him, pointed and pushed. Cody was moving towards the Waterford manager and the fourth official stood in his way. That's the difference.

However, the Sunday Game's analysts' viewpoints that because of his service to the GAA, he shouldn't be banned, are silly. If he pushed the 4th official, in the manner intended by the rule, then he should be suspended, regardless of who he is and what he has done.

The way is unfolded in Semple was not the same as the Connolly incident.

It doesn't matter at all. It only matters that he did it. I've seen various excuses on social media that range from he's a gentleman and not that type of man to the linesman started it and Cody was just defending himself. All B.S. The GAA have opened a can of worms this year between Comerford, DC & the Louth player who's name escapes me. Not to mention Davy Fitz & McGeeney for that matter. Zero tolerance.

even if Cody does get a 12 week ban it won't affect him in anyways.. not like he will be playing or managing in those 12 weeks

Every incident needs to be judged on its own individual merits, not have a "one size fits all" approach. Ulsterman and Dubs fans trying to compare the incident to Connolly's is pure false equivalence.

The fact that Kilkenny are out of the championship had a big bearing on the Sunday game's panel.

If Kilkenny were still in the competition there would be far more pundits calling for the 12 week ban.

Minor physical interference with an official is a 12 week ban. There are no caveats in the rule.
