We've done more than our fair share to promote the game. Dinny Cahill coached Antrim. Joe Hayes was player/ coach when Monaghan won their only hurling all Ireland title. O'Dwyer a Tipp under 21 in 95 gave great service to Derry hurling. Brislane and Hammersley played for Meath. A host of Tipp players including all Ireland winners played for Kildare in the last 15 years and Kildare have been coached by a Tipp man. Bonnar is current Carlow manager, was involved with Waterford and Wexford too. Brian Flannery played on the breakthrough Waterford team in 98, he was another 95 under 21 winner. Kelly has coached Offaly, Laois and Kerry in recent years. Brendan Cummins has been involved with Laois and Kerry. Len Gaynor did then groundwork for Loughnane in Clare. Brother Ryan was involved with Laois and Waterford. But the convenient theory as usual is Tipp don't care about anyone but themselves. We had a brilliant weekend in Antrim honouring Fr Alex Reid with Antrim GAA in January. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 28/06/2017 18:11:15 2007041 Link 2 |
PS I think it would be extremely condescending if we conceded home advantage to ye. We are showing ye the respect ye deserve. This is knock out hurling from here on in. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 28/06/2017 18:16:12 2007043 Link 1 |
John McIntyre with Galway and Offaly!! Richie Stakelum and Tommy Dunne with Dublin!! Brian Lacey was a tipp man best corner back Kildare football ever had!! Ken Hogan was involved with Coolderry brought them to an all Ireland final!! I know where Westmeath are coming from but our CB look like their saying if yer good enough to be in Liam McCarthy cup then be good enough to take us on anywhere. Paudi Butler with Laois. Dinny Cahill with Laois. Paudie O'Neill with Ballyboden and Dublin Primary schools. Ryan O'Dwyer current Dublin hurler. But apart from all of that, what have Tipperary ever done for hurling. We are such a selfish bunch in Tipp. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 28/06/2017 19:00:59 2007065 Link 0 |
Ok people can we get back on topic and actually discuss the match? I think this is just the draw Tipperary needed. No disrespect to Westmeath but im predicting a comfortable Tipperary win. They could get Dublin/Laois in the next round as well and go on a nice little winning streak. I definitely see them getting to an all Ireland semi final. Their goalkeeper looks extremely ropey. I hope the likes of Doyle and Devine play well cos they are more than capable at this level. If we beat Westmeath I would be more than happy to play the winners of Dublin and Laois next. We need to build our confidence back up through momentum gained from winning matches. The quarter finals and semi finals could be top notch stuff this year. PuC will have great games to open the ground. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 28/06/2017 20:04:47 2007090 Link 0 |

Conversation is like a tree, it branches and diversifies, so while the game itself is not to be ignored, we'll talk about what we want to talk about without any preaching from those with a traffic warden mentality, thanks.

What's your thoughts on the game Darragh?

If Waterford beat Offaly, then I think we can only face either the Dublin/Laois or Kilkenny/Limerick winners. As far as I know, teams that have already met are kept apart, right?

Haha that's a good way of describing pretty much every thread on this website.

Exactly, like a virtual pub chat and I see nothing wrong with that! If I want a bullet-pointed agenda where I'm told specifically what to discuss I can get that at work!

Wait, I'm talking nonsense. Tipp and Waterford haven't met yet, so we could meet in the second round. I think the next level of qualifiers will be a completely open draw, as I don't think there'll be 2 teams involved that have played each other already.

Would it not make sense to seed/give home advantage to teams from the qualifier group? keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 29/06/2017 01:54:39 2007221 Link 0 |
Ok you go ahead and discuss changing the venue for a match that's taking place on Saturday evening. Maybe other people actually want to discuss the hurling.

You are like a dog with a bone Keeper. Would you not take a spin down to Thurles. I know Mullingar is more convenient for you. It's the luck of the draw. The other Munster teams got away fixtures. If Westmeath had got home advantage we would have happily travelled up to Mullingar and made no qualms about just like our ill fated trip to Nowlan Park in 2013. Having said all that I see where you are coming from but that not be condescending? Did Carlow travel to Laois for their game? That's not a like for like comparison. The draw was a home and away draw. It's not Tipp's business to promote hurling in a rival Liam McCarthy Cup county. Its the GAA's.
