Replying To doratheexplorer:  "3 men manhandled him. So what. That's always going to happen. Brolly saying linesman should have protected him. Should Brannigan have went in and hit the Carlow players????"
Oh so 3 guys having a go on one off the pitch now is permitted all of a sudden. Ah well then. Is this from the Pat Spillane version of the rule book?

Did Keegan get 3 months suspension and miss 4 championship games?

They getting as bad as that shower up north.

Dublin are a brilliant team. Let your football do the talking and start acting like men and not spoilt brats."
Sure Tyrone don't either. Don't lose much sleep over it. Gavin says nothing of interest anyway and doesn't allow the players. Niall Scully got MOTM in first league game and Dublin official told him say nothing.

Joe brolly has the cheek to lambast pat Spillane tonight on the Sunday game when all pat did was state that Connolly broke the rules and would have to suffer the consequences.

All this after brolly tore into Sean cavanagh after he took down McManus in 2013 and he questioned Sean's manhood.

Brolly just showed us what we all knew already and that's that he's nothing more than an attention seeker.

Spillane didn't do any worse than Whelan did or brolly did with cavanagh or the whole of rte did with Joe Sheridan it happens all the time I'm just surprised at Jim Gavin he's bigger and better than stooping to this bull in fairness

I imagine all analysts if they are to be any bit professional will have notes taken before the show. I would rather they have done there homework than to just go ad lib on the show.
I honestly don't get what dublin fans wanted. The incident was all over social media. Were the Sunday game just meant to ignore the attention it was getting. Pat Spillane and colm of Rourkes job was to analyze the game and that's what they did.

Agreed. Common practice in sports psychology to get the much sought after siege mentality.

Its clearly a tactical move but it seems a bit overplayed. Nobody is buying the explanation.

No it's not acceptable but happens in football matches all year round.

Brolly thinks Connolly needed protection from three lads manhandling him which was essentially handbags but thought it was great that Down lads were sticking their knees into Monaghan lads

Broadcaster offends high proflie team
High profile team had high spending sponsors
Broadcaster has higher viewership from high profile team

Always a huge conflict
1) I can't defend the broadcaster unless there are 100 pc neutral and objective ( so you won't get this with a Spillane or a Ciaran wheelan)
2) only with a nuetral broadcaster then you should stipulate rules / interviews / etc to qualify for broadcasting rights + strict rules that they will block teams who do not comply
3) If the rules around non compliance were strong the sponsors would design contracts around this and it would self regulate

To be fair the higher profile of player attracts more attention from the human noise bags of the media, Connolly was the latest granted he did something that in the rule book gives a sizeable ban could be argued an excessive ban. If watch the pattern it seems to follow a different players at different times. One player comes to the attention for whatever reason and then a number pundits whey in. For Connolly it has seen him cited and banned when the linesman didn't say anything about it during the game. Now this isn't the first time this has happened to a player the Keegan incident in the run up to the replay where he was subsequently awarded a black card would similar in the fact that possibility the officials had a closer eye on him. The other side is that it isn't a conspiracy and bad luck that Keegan made a black card tackle in open view but doesn't hide the fact that people in the media talked about Keegan and how he is reffed in the weeks before the replay. Same here in connollys situation so there would be some merit in Jim Gavin's complaint.

Maybe RTE should stop showing Dublin games until All Ireland semi final as they cake walk Leinster and breeze through a quarter final.
RTE pundits should refuse to make analysis of the game as what's there to analyze anyway since the margin of victory is always 10 points plus.
Absolute rubbish today got more enjoyment from the 90 seconds of Carlow Laois hurling match than 78 minutes of Dublin Westmeath.

Lol and tell me which is worse? Mayo losing their best player in the final for a nothing tackle while having a stormer after a campaign on TV and in the media pre match or Connolly missing games Dublin will win anyway? Dublin including some posters on here have overplayed the poor us card on Connolly, it's tiresome.
