Club Championship Predicitions

Can someone please explain how we find ourselves in this scenario AGAIN! Wicklow were one of the first counties out of the football AI and there are a small number hurling clubs, how can they not get the respective championships finished? They should be ashamed of themselves.

How do we find ourselves in this situation again?!? We were knocked out of the championship in the middle of June by Laois and we're going into the end of October for a county final. It's madness, last years final was on the 2nd weekend of October which is still late really. The latest fixture story is bringing more attention to Wicklow and I would imagine most the country is wondering how it takes over 4 months to run off a championship! It was farcical that Greystones as a dual club had to play two championship matches at the weekend especially considering the amount of players they provide to the county, but now they're will be a week break because 2 clubs share players. It wasn't like this earlier in the year when one player played two games with an hours break or so. The more things change the more they stay the same!

Didn't Rathnew play pats on a Saturday this year and then glenealy play pats on the Sunday!!! Wasn't much outrage about that!

You could be right. I still think its outrageous that Eire Og, who are a constant improving Senior dual club, that reached a new height for their club this year were made play 2 games the same weekend, but I find it equally outrageous that the whole county now turn on Rathnew without them doing anything wrong themselves? From what I could see in the fixtures that the games were never for the same weekend and like you just mentioned, they may have already played the same weekend without any arguments and I'm sure have done so many times over the years. Very bad though that the knockout games for Eire Og were the same weekend with such a large number of dual players. I'd be furious over it but we all know nothing will ever change. The fixtures are a headache and the board just gamble that the same club don't do well at both grades. Was there even an option, although not even a good one, that one of the games could be Friday night and the other Sunday evening?

No it certainly doesn't, but people seem to be implying that Rathnew/Glenealy are treated differently when that clearly isn't the case

Why is the Intermediate County Final only 6 days after the second semi final takes place this weekend surely any body that would pick up a knock or injury would struggle to be ready for a final so close to the semi.

Maybe so but that is unreal that one of the sides that play next Sunday will have to play a county final 6 days later, after training all year to have that thrown at them is hardly correct,i know players like to play regular games but a semi and final within 6 days surely Wicklow CB could hardly show that little regard for any club. And i am not from either club.

Looking forward to the two big games this weekend. I fancy Hollywood to beat Ballymanus with a bit to spare and set up an all west final against Dunlavin next weekend.

In the Junior A final I think Kilcoole should shade it against Laragh. Kilcoole have been there or thereabouts for a number of years now and players like Kavanagh, Quigley and Keddy deserve a championship win. Laragh will certainly make a game of it and I expect that they will try and cut off the supply of ball into Danny Kavanagh in full forward by playing the sweeper in front of their back line like they did against Valleymount last weekend. It worked a treat for them last weekend until Valleymount pushed up and went man to man, after that Laragh struggled. I think Kilcoole should have too much for them and will win by 2-3 points.

What a week. What a day. They came in their hundreds from Laragh, Glendalough, Glendassan, Clara, Cullentra, Annamoe, Trooperstown, Ballard, Knockfin, Brockagh, Glenmacnass. Proud people. Great Laragh GAA families like the Merrigans, Nolans, Cullens, Conways, Kennys. I could go on and on. What a win!!!!

Intermediate Final on Saturday and should be a good one i didn't think Dunlavin would go the whole way to the final but they seem to be making the best of the luck they got to get out of their group so my prediction in Dunlavin.

Fair play to Dunlavin, they have came through and made the final against all odds even though it looked a certainty that they would be eliminated in the group stage. I think Hollywood will have too much for them at the weekend however and Dunlavin won't be able to handle their forward line. Hollywood to win by 4 or 5 points and Hannon to pick up man of the match/ player of the year.

Seems to be Dunlavins year in fairness. Lost 2 games in the group stage, same as AGB last year but still got through by the skin of their teeth. 2 good wins then to reach the final, specially against Rathnew who had been a bit of a bogey team for them. Good team who seem to have learned how to win ugly this year.
Hollywood have a lot of quality and Senior experience though. And the Tony Hannon factor will be huge for them. With the likes of Harry Wilson they have defenders who can shackle the Dunlavin forwards too, and Dunlavin have been kept to low scores by the likes of Ballinacor, Donard and Kilmac already this year.
Local rivals, two good footballing teams....will be tight. A point will be all thats in it in my opinion. My call all year was Hollywood, I'll stick with Hollywood tomorrow!
I think Rathnew will turn Balto over in the Senior semi on Sunday.
Best of luck to Laragh in Leinster on Saturday too! Great win for them last week.

Another great day for Laragh GAA. Went a few points down but pulled it out of the bag yet again, Mark Miley getting the all important goal this time. Leinster Q/F in 2 weeks v Westmeath champions I believe. Back to Lynhams now for a feed of pints!!!

Got it right with Hollywood, way wrong with the margin!! Dunlavin never turned up unfornutately. Out battled, out thought and out played. They shouldnt have got out of their group and it showed. Well done to Hollywood, best team in this grade all year in fairness.
Great win again for Laragh! Well done to them. Nothing to lose from here on
