Rathnew beat Dunlavin already this year... Have they lost anyone to their senior team since? clubfan17 (Wicklow) - Posts: 107 - 22/09/2017 12:37:48 2049309 Link 0 |
It's not what they have lost, but what they will gain. Their Junior B team had a guy back from suspension last night who hasn't played in a year. Scored 3-04 in a final.

One of the best Laragh wins for years in Aughrim this evening. Valleymount quite simply didn't know what hit them. Determination & guts throughout from the Laragh lads. Result was never in any doubt. Saintkevinsbed (Wicklow) - Posts: 12 - 23/09/2017 19:27:19 2049684 Link 0 |
Well done to Baltinglass on beating Éire Óg in today's football quarter final replay. They deserved it based on the second half. rockyV (Wicklow) - Posts: 23 - 24/09/2017 20:04:52 2050002 Link 0 |
Be very interesting to see do the county board insist on rathnew playing on Saturday. If they call it off what does that say to Eire Og? Can't have one rule for one and a different for everyone else. The O'Brien fella from Annacurra was forced to play 2 championship games in the one day a few weeks back.. How do the county board let this happen year after when we have the whole summer to get these championship games played... wicklow88 (Wicklow) - Posts: 126 - 24/09/2017 20:47:56 2050026 Link 0 |
I doubt Eire Og would encourage their players not to play for county but I would not be surprised if players refused. There is a big lack of leadership at CB level and has been for a number of years now. If football is called off next weekend there will be huge consequences going forward which would be a real shame. Precedent is set now so they will have to live with it. hurlingnut (Wicklow) - Posts: 311 - 24/09/2017 22:39:45 2050086 Link 0 |
Rathnew V Balto is fixed for 08/10/17, 2 weeks time! ww14 (Wicklow) - Posts: 18 - 25/09/2017 09:53:39 2050192 Link 0 |
How can the football be called off if it was never even fixed for this weekend in the first place?

One law for one another law for Rathnew. Same old story.

With regard to the Eire Og situation, they had hurling last week, this week and potentially next week if they won on Saturday. The football replay had to be played at some stage and they couldn't rely on Eire Og not being involved next week when the fixture was set. If they decided that the football and hurling couldn't be on the same weekend then the replay might have ended up on October 8th, a month after the drawn game. anon (None) - Posts: 353 - 25/09/2017 13:06:46 2050284 Link 0 |
So if Eire og had of won both games they should have been made play this Saturday and Sunday again?

Not necessarily. I think that it's not unreasonable to have the hurling this weekend and football the following week, but it's the different treatment of different clubs I don't agree with.

It's about time people realise that our fixtures man from the county board does everything to suit rathnew, its a complete joke and disgraceful what happened the eire og dual players and the Carnew player who played 2 games after each other, the balto v rathnew game should b this Saturday but now all of a sudden it's off.... brollyboy (Wicklow) - Posts: 132 - 25/09/2017 15:42:29 2050372 Link 0 |
It was never on in the first place to be called off. Did you see it fixed somewhere no one else did.

I think people are seeing conspiracies where there are none. Unfortunately Eire og drew in both codes and were forced to play both days. The blame for this shambles lies squarely with the people who voted to defer the start of the championship for four weeks earlier this year. I believe the fixtures man was not involved in this decision due to ill health at the time. I'd be interested to know what way the Eire og delegates voted that night?!!!!!! What way they voted is irrelevant. The simple fact is the county final is, was and is always the 8th oct but now, bang, its off to facilitate guess who !!!! Whocares (Wicklow) - Posts: 229 - 25/09/2017 23:18:01 2050523 Link 0 |
Well that statement is pure nonsense. Your understanding of the word "fact" is a bit off!!. Looking forward to next years final on a Tuesday

There's nothing nonsense about it. The senior men's final is always the 1st or 2nd weekend of oct, never the 3rd unless you're facilitating a certain club. Dublin will have their championship played before Wicklow at this rate. It's a complete joke and a farce Whocares (Wicklow) - Posts: 229 - 26/09/2017 12:09:00 2050608 Link 0 |
Which is it then, the 1st or 2nd weekend???? You just it always was, is, and should be the 8th!!!! As I said "nonsense Onlywayisup (Wicklow) - Posts: 201 - 26/09/2017 12:39:21 2050626 Link 1 |
