Kilkenny 10/1 to win All-Ireland!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

If they can get Hogan fit and TJ back contributing scores from play they have a chance. If that doesn't happen they just won't score enough and their full back line is as weak as it has ever been.

This team has gone off a bit of a cliff in my opinion and are nose diving. Maybe they can arrest the descent but I'm not so sure.

You'd have to have at least Cork, Wexford, Galway, Tipp ahead of them right now. Maybe Clare and Waterford (although after Sunday not so sure of where the Déise are) too.

This isn't judging Kilkenny harshly after one game, it's on everything that's happened since half time in the All-Ireland Final last year.

They resorted to throwing on their sub goalie in the forwards against Wexford!

Rule them out at your peril!
Having said that, they haven't been good at U21 for the last few years, maybe the conveyor belt is not producing them like they used to, or Wexford and Dublin have caught them up at this grade and it was always going to eventually happen at senior?
Having said that, I doubt they will be down for long, if they are even down at all!!! They could easily come through the qualifiers and win an All-Ireland, as could Tipp or Waterford.

Any gambler will tell you when taking a punt its about value not if it will win or lose , if a team is a certainty but odds are cramped you don't bet , if a team has great odds but no chance you don't bet , so where do Kilkenny fit into this scenario , do they have a chance Yes , are the odds value Yes , will they win well that's not what the thread is about

We need a handy draw in the qualifiers to rebuild confidence. I think we can bounce back after the 6 week lay-off. If anyone can deliver back to back it's Mick Ryan and this team. We've had rough patch but we needed it too to give us a kick up the arse.

I would love to see Galway vs Tipp part 3 this summer. It would be a shame if that pairing doesn't happen. Icing on the cake for what has already been a great championship.

They were 25/30 mins from winning last year and have Aylward and probably Fennelly back. Kilkenny's problem is they are still chopping and changing in key positions. If they get a run in the qualifiers they'll have a serious chance. Likely hood is that they will have to play either Tipp or Waterford before a quarter final and would you back against them beating any of the four provincial finalists if they get through the qualifiers?
Personally I'm hoping Tipp draw Kilkenny next as I'd hate to play them after a few wins if we get that far.
Their chances of going anywhere depend on Reid and Hogan though. Reid has been off form for a couple of years now. He no longer contributes too many scores from play consistently. Hogan seems to be carrying an injury for a while too. Colin Fennelly and Walter Walsh aren't players that will consistently contribute either. It would be a huge blow to KK if they got knocked out in the next round as Cody would know closer in nailing down key positions in his team
