Mayo v Derry

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Whats with commentator - "poor Mayo, long suffering etc etc" spare a thought for the long suffering neutral having to watch this misery every year. Mayo need a good root up the butt and told to get on with it. They still will probably win at this stage but the saga is wearing thin now.

Replying To MourneArmy:  "What's the story with the Derry management always feeling the need to big up Derry's chances in the papers before big championship matches? In the Derry Journal Brian McGuckin says Derry 'won't go to Mayo just to make up the numbers' and Barton in today's The Irish News says Derry 'can do a Down' this weekend (Barton). Before the Tyrone game McGuckin told The Irish News that Derry would put it up to Tyrone and 'won't throw in the towel this time'. I just can't get my head around why the management feels the need to come out these sound bites before important championship matches? As lovely as they sound I personally don't think it helps the underdog at all."
Didn't do them any harm there today.

Replying To Brolly:  "Derry keeper having a mare."
He's a good keeper, just a liability when ball in hand and he also needs to stop getting into scuffles that he has nothing to do with.

Somebody tell derry to push up on the mayo kick outs and try something different with their own cos they're winning none of their own kick outs!!

What the boys analysing the games at sky couldn't learn from you."
Mark Lynch agrees with me !

Replying To Llaw_Gyffes:  "All I said about Galway was that the jury is still out and that they will have to win a game or two in Croke Park before they can be judged. Their full back line was poor against Mayo and that will be exploited later on if not rectified. If you see that as knocking Galway then fair enough. I'm sorry I don't understand your point regarding Mayo."
Point is that Mayo need to get their act together and never mind about the Galway boys.

Replying To Belclare1:  "All Derry need to do is pump high balls in on top of that full back line.. Very weak and the scores will come..."
Would seem like a good idea. Might try it a few more times in extra time.

They created a lot more chances going at the defence than banging in hail Marys.
Far better football to look at too.

I think Derry would have preferred a replay, they were very unlucky not to have won it in the 70 mins, just hope we avoid Mayo in the draw Monday morning.

Derry kickouts would break your bloody heart. Mayo certainly don't look anything special here today.

Ger Canning sounded so down when Derry scored their equalising goal, now he's on top form again that Mayo are winning.

To sugar coat this Mayo win We're into the next round and can improve David Clarke is still 1 of the best goalkeepers around The Derry keeper out from his hair cut and a couple of brain fart kick outs is damn good as well Surely to God Mayo can't play this bad again

Can someone explain the square ball rule Mayo scored a goal in the league The player was clearly in the square before the ball and today the Derry player was clearly in there as well. By the way why the hell is it called a Square Ball its a friggin rectangle

Don't see why you would be too worried by that display.
