Replying To green.and.gold:  "Thats ridiculous!! A chance to give weaker counties some exposure missed , i know for sure Leitrim hurlers were never on tv before. Shows how much they care about the weaker hurling counties."
zero F**ks given as usual by the hurling powers that be in Croke Park.

I wouldn't put all the blame on the GAA, could be the way TG4 are going down.
They were happy to get of Seo Spoirt so likely happy not to show the hurling games as would be up against other games on RTE.

I presume its contractual so that if one match is on TV there isn't another on a different channel.
So the question is why were matches scheduled where the contractual clash could of happened?

Correct, blame lies firmly at the GAA's door, not TG4, Sky or whoever.

There will be more at the Antrim v Carlow game than there will be at Cork v Tipp

Last yr when it wasn't televised there was only 2,100 a the Munster semi-final !!!!!! I expect the crowd to be even smaller as its in Cork,

very disappointing that TG4 cant show it

Replying To bumpernut:  "completely agree, the 3 finals are usually all decent enough to watch into the bargain.

Maybe there is more to it as tg4 at least make an effort to cover it.

Could be worse though, sure the bbc and utv completely ignore hurling altogether, even though there are 3 ulster teams competing on saturday"
Ah sure that'd have be on after the watershed. There are somethings that younger eyes are not yet ready for. ;)

A disgrace that these games are not been shown live. So much for promoting it in the very every counties that need it the most.

Its a bigger disgrace that these matches are not scheduled as they were originally intended -- as curtain raisers to a big senior championship match in Croke Park. Can't blame any TV station for not showing them since they could only come under the remit of "public service broadcasting". Broadcasting them live would be a big loss making exercise for RTE/TG4 and those 2 stations.

While I agree with you it would mean then that the winner would not be able to compete in the Liam Mc as Carlow now are. There is no big game in Croke Park at this time of year.
