Congrats to Bernard Brogan

Would be great to see Meath v Dublin next year in Navan in the 1st round of the championship. It certainly would be a different leinster if we saw more draws like that. The trouble is that bar themselves or kildare drawing dublin at home, there is nothing else that would cause an upset or an interesting fixture.

Replying To Laois76:  "I think that's the point being made. He was a sub against Longford in Longford in 2006, played Laois in Nowlan Park last year and now Carlow in Portlaoise.

Not a slight on Bernard's scoring record but a reflection on how ridiculous it is that the Dubs don't travel more to provincial venues in the championship."
it's a shame that you had to actually explain that but you know I suppose we are all different and that's what make the world such an interesting place.

Amazing that a bit of trivia (outside the man's control) has brought so much cheap ridiculing of one of the best players of his generation. Wish we had him !!

Could you imagine if Ronaldo or Messi had never scored a goal outside of the Bernabeu and Camp Nou???

It is an amazing statistic, not taking away from Bernard's achievements as he is a great footballer & sportsman, a genuine role model. I do think though that Dublin should be made play outside of Croke Park more particularly in early rounds where they don't have home advantage. That game should have been played in Dr Cullen Park regardless of its capacity & how many want to watch it. The weaker counties are not been give any advantage whatsoever. I also think the Dubs would benefit from having to tough it out in small cauldrons like that whilst it would also give some hope to the minnows to cause an upset.

It really is a disgrace that the county board delegates to the Leinster deprived Brogan of the opportunity to play outside of Croke Park.

That's the delegates representing Longford, Westmeath, Meath, Louth, Kildare, Wicklow, Wexford, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly and Carlow. It has always been in their power to make Dublin play wherever they chose. It's sad as there is clearly a want from supporters of these counties to move Dublin out of Croke Park but there own county boards refused time and time again. It really is baffling how inept these delegates have continued to be on this issue. Even when they did manage to not fix a Dublin game for Croker they even failed to get the game held in the Dublin opposing counties ground. Twice! You really couldn't make it up.

They could have had Dublin playing every single game away from home if they wanted. But they didn't.

Well regardless of who's to blame and the various discussions around it, it is a pretty remarkable statistic.
