Connolly interfering with match official

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I think the telling part of this whole issue is that nobody is surprised at this stage.
And noboby will be surprised if Connolly escapes punishment with his record in doing so in previous incidents.

Would you care to elaborate or is this just a standard "you're not allowed criticise Connolly"
What part of what I said is incorrect?
In my opinion, he is no longer worth the hassle he brings. I know he was tied up with Vincent's until February but he has played 3 times for Dublin this year - Monaghan and Kerry in the league and Carlow in Championship. He was black carded against Monaghan and almost cost the team a place in the league final. He got black carded in the league final and then last night he interfered with an official and then committed a rash challenge and deservedly got a yellow card.
Why would you bother persisting with a player who never seems to learn? In the drawn All Ireland Final last year, Dublin were 1 point up and got a sideline ball which Kilkenny lined up to take to keep possession, Connolly decided to go for his own glory and took a ridiculous shot that was never on. Mayo then went on to equalise.. I know we won the replay but that to me is not a leader and not a team player. Time to give someone else a chance - someone who might actually finish the game

Replying To HEREBENJI:  "I see Comerfords appeal for same offence was turned down so hopefully Connolly will receive the same punishment. However we all know its one rule for the Dubs and another for everyone else. Now after playing one of the weakest teams in the country at a neutral venue its back to playing all games at home for rest of season."
Another ABD. If a player deserves a punishment let him receive it. But "let's hope Connolly receives the same punished " that's a horrible attitude.

12 weeks all but guaranteed I'm afraid, which is a pity as he's a reason to watch GAA.

12 weeks would have him back for semi-final.
But it's 12 weeks not training with the team, so, if that's enforced, it's hard to see him back this year.

That's Seamus O'Shea in the allireland semifinal replay in 2015 and Aidan o'mahony in the league final 2016 and now Brendan Murphy last night like I say the list is growing for Jonny cooper.

Will he ? The CCCC took no action against James McCarthy for punching donnacha Walsh twice on camera in the leagu final or on donnacha Walsh for shoving McCarthy in the face in the same game or on Philip McMahon for punching Paul geaney on camera in the same game.

Or on Connolly being punched last night or on X or Y or blah blah. AOm gave verbals to ref in 2015 final & wasn't cited? In any game players will get away with stuff. Lets wait and see if all your dreams come true

He will get a ban GAA have shown more leniency towards doping than protecting players that are constantly abused during the course of a game.

First O'mahony now o'sullivan both brushed under the carpet..something going on down in the kingdom of a way more serious note that fxxk all is being done about.

If Ciaran Whelan is on tonight and someone else highlights this incident with Conolly will you criticise Whelan in that case?

I'm only waiting to see how Ciaran Whellan will justify this on the Sunday game tonight and to see will the CCCC just ignore another serious dubs incident .

Brendan O'sullivan served a 21 week ban for eating the equivalent of a mars bar so I know what your on about?

Aidan o'mahony is an asmatic and it was a case of the sports council not having his paperwork properly on file, again what are you on about?

Now if you want to bring up Paul Galvin's 6 months suspension for interference with a match official in 2008 we can talk about that kid.

Yeah if he isn't going to be critical of Dublin players he shouldn't be on the show.

Yes I will because he seems to be the adjudicator and analyst in SG of all things illegal in football esp with Ulster counties and will sit there with a big red face and say nothing when his native county are up to no good.

So you want Connolly suspended for always reacting and now your after Cooper for being on the end of reactions haha let's just ban all Dublin players for being Dubs.

Sky Sports has brainwashed you all.

He's not been charged with anything

So fella's saying he shouldn't appeal or will get off doesn't make a whole lot of sense at this time

But hey. trial by social media wha!!

There really was almost nothing in this, but the letter of the law clearly states that what Connolly did is against the rules, but considering all that was truly in it.. 3 months seems very harsh but unfortunately Connolly did the one thing he shouldn't have done under such circumstances.

If charged he will prob def get a ban.

Now it's up to the officials, everything else is pure speculation until we hear more.
