Ridiculous Bias towards Ulster Shown by RTE

Replying To gotmilk:  "Down v Armagh should be a closer game than kildare v Laois and Meath v Louth. I'd expect Meath and Kildare to win handy enough. Maybe RTE want to show close games, oh and save money. You know the whole BBC thing that you keep ignoring."
I'd prefer if they provided a better quality service than go for the cheap option.they are funded well enough they should be providing a better service.

The real reason is, when the six counties were sold out in the 1920's by the rest of the country, all support services for this part of our country in the North of Ireland came under a separate jurisdiction. Therefore we were left with a strange situation where, when tv came along, it was provided for the six counties by a company (BBC) from a neighbouring nation. When scheduling was planned this year, under on-going duress from their Irish nationalist licence payers, BBC decided to show all Ulster matches (even those involving the 3 teams outside their jurisdiction).
RTE can now use those pictures at a reduced cost (compared to other non-ulster matches).
The solution would be to unite us again and make more logical programme selections for the entire country (to cover the ALL Ireland series).
So the fault lies squarely at the foot of Enda Kenny and his Fine Gael predecessors!

To be fair Dublin Vs Carlow is on live this weekend - can't wait to see how that one turns out.

Replying To Offside_Rule:  "Sure tell you what, why don't you start your own broadcasting channel dedicated to showing the Live games. And with so many knowledgeable pundits and analysts on here you shouldn't be short on people in the studio/commentary. I am sure Hoganstand could provide the required funding and launch HoganstandTV by next years league campaign but you should also set up a PayPal subscription or at the very least a GoFundMe page. Coverage of one game on the main channel and every other Intercounty match on the red button. I've thought it through before posting and can see no pitfalls whatsoever, which leaves me confused as to why RTÉ can't do this themselves.

P.S. Let us know when its up and running so I can make sure it's on the Kodi. Wouldn't want to have to be paying to watch a bit of sport...."
Hoganstand TV? That's a fecking brilliant idea! The world needs to know about us. Think about it, Ulsterman & Liamwalkinstown in the same studio or TV gantry arguing the toss, we could even bring back The Master to present the coverage of the mythical East Dublin once it's split into four. But we shouldn't stop there, Ormond v The Rest in the rugby studio, Arsenal games where what's happening on the pitch is incidental to Brickwall v Saffron on the Wenger issue.........and that's before we even start on the Non Sport Superthread.

Where are we going to hold the auditions? I heard Tom Smith Here can cut us a really good deal if we choose Cavan.

2 very 1 sided games in Leinster today. RTE did well showing an entertaining and close local derby in Ulster.

There'd be no shortage of complaints on here if it had gone the other way so people need to recognise how and why games are chosen.
