3 soft frees to Dublin. Mannion was barely touched and miss kicked so the ref gave a free then McCarthy over carried for the second one. Not to mention the first yellow card for Brendan Murphy. Jackos_Wacko (Kerry) - Posts: 417 - 03/06/2017 20:14:34 1994030 Link 0 |
The 1994 Connacht Championship win for Leitrim wasn't that huge of an upset, although they had to beat Roscommon, Galway and Mayo to achieve it. Remember that Leitrim were pegging Roscommon closer and closer, having lost to them in each of the previous four championships at the semi-final stage and being reffed out of it in 1993. Also, consider that after March 1995, Leitrim were the highest placed Connacht team in the league, sitting in Division 2 while Galway and Mayo were getting relegated to Division 3. The following year, Mayo got promoted back up. The year after that, Leitrim finished ahead of them in Division 2. I believe a raft of retirements around this time brought the end to one of Leitrim's greatest teams. In 2014, All-Ireland U-21 football champions Galway were beaten by Leitrim in Connacht, a monumental upset. Tacaí Liatroma (Leitrim) - Posts: 1045 - 04/06/2017 15:13:17 1994456 Link 1 |
