As the time gets closer I actually cannot wait. The first game of championship is always a special day, to make it even better is a derby game against the wee, roll on the 4th.

Yes its all ticket, and selling out fast, last year was a sell out with lots of disappointed people showing up on day with no tickets, this year the demand is expected to be greater as there is more belief in both counties

Replying To royaldunne:  "Shame match isnt on TV as you and everyone else would then see where our confidence is coming from. Meath are unrecognizable compared to previous years, the belief and passion and above all clinical play is outstanding, someone said we have the Alex Ferguson of gaa ? No one said that, as that would be belittling the far superior Andy mcentee. All hail the messiah.
Hon the Royal"
I believe it when I see it. I'd love to see Meath challenging but they're a million miles off Dublin and this thing that Meath-Dublin games take on a life of their own was when both had top teams, it hasn't been the case for a good few years now. Meath are producing nothing in underage competitions and I'd say I could count on one hand the amount of Leinster club games they have won in the last 10 years. The confidence has no evidence until we see otherwise. Things generally don't change that quickly...

Meath have more quality up front and that should be enough to see them over the line. However imo meaths midfield and back line is average. If louth can get a foothold at midfield i think we could have a good game on our hands.

Living on the Louth/Meath border I cannot wait for Sunday's clash. Meath reminds me of my ex girlfriend. They have broken my wee heart on many occasions. Sunday 22nd June 1975 was the last time that the Wee men beat the Royals in the Championship. It was also a quarter-final clash which was held in Croke Park. It is hard to believe that it is 42 years ago that Louth last beat Meath in the Championship. Meath had just won the league where they had beaten then the All Ireland Championships the Dubs in the final. Events that happened in 1975 was that Dev died, three members of the Miami Showband were murdered by the UVF in an ambush, Ireland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the very first time, The Vietnam War comes to an end, Jaws is the big blockbuster movie of the year, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is the big song of the year, London join the Connacht Championship for the very first time, Sligo win their first Connacht Championship in 67 years. Some things never change with Kerry winning Sam and Kilkenny winning Liam in 1975.

Hard to believe it's been 42 years alright OLLIE, some good trivia there to, 75 was a busy year by the looks of it.

How are feeling about this one OLLIE, any different to other years, do you think Louth are in with a better/worse/similar chance of winning than in recent years?

Htaem I am feeling nervous and excited all at once. Each Louth v Meath match is different to me in the build up. If wee look at the championship matches after 1975 I will give you an example.

1984: This was Louth's first time playing Meath in the Championship under Boylan.
1988: Louth were playing Meath who were All Ireland Championships. This was the first time this happened since 1950.
1989: The first time ever that Louth played Meath in the Championship when they won back to back All Irelands.
1998: This was the first Louth/Meath Leinster semi-final since 1964.
2002: This was the first ever Louth/Meath match in the qualifiers.
2006: First season with out Boylan. Louth just won Division Two. Meath were relegated. Louth were slight favs with the bookies.
2010: Louth's first Leinster final since 1960. This was the first North East Leinster Final since 1952.
2011: The first match between these sides since the Leinster final. This so called revenge match was also live on TV in the qualifiers.
2016: Meath's first ever Championship match in Parnell Park and also the first Leinster Championship match since 2010.
2017: Both teams have improved and both are confident in the lead up to this battle of the Boyne clash.

Of course Louth had better teams in the past thirty years or so when they faced Meath but one thing is for sure is that Louth teams will always put it up to the Royals. The build up to the Leinster final in 2010 was something special indeed. It was a day that I thought that I would never see. In the 1990's Louth had a good team and they lost six Leinster semi-finals in the 1990's. The past two seasons has seen Colin Kelly progress steady with the Wee County plus his side kick Colm Nally brought the Cill's to the All Ireland Inter club final this year. It's gonna be some hell of a game on Sunday.

remember 2006,ye were slight favs and even in my head i thought louth would win. ye lead by 4 at half time, but meath outplayed louth in the 2nd half and won well at the end.

That's a good breakdown OLLIE, I remember all the meetings from 1998 onward but I was 1 back in 1989 so that I certainly don't recall. I didn't realize Louth had made 6 leinster semi's in the 90's either, yous must have been very close to making the break through, but it was a difficult time with Meath, Dublin, Kildare and Offaly all producing very talented teams that decade.

As for Sunday, I think you're right, it could be a very good game with both teams seemingly on the up, certainly you'd hope we're both in better shape than last year.

It was Louth 0-10 Meath 0-06 at half time in 2006. Louth had a great chance at the start of the second half to score a goal and they missed their chance. Louth failed to score in the second half and Meath won 1-15 to 0-10. The strange thing is that it happened in two other championship matches that year that a team failed to score in one half. It happened to Limerick who failed to score in the second half against Cork and then the All Ireland Champs Tyrone who failed to score in the first half against Derry.
