Great to see Wexford back with a proper team again. Chin was phenomenal, KK couldn't deal with him, I think big Wally bounced off him too.

Championship wins over Kilkenny don't come along too often and Wexford's last was in 2004 so I'm sure alot of the young fans on the field can't remember or weren't even born so I wouldn't blame them for the celebrations to be honest as days like that don't come around all the time.

Good to see Dublin commenting maybe get your own house in order first. Wexford deserved the win, played with skill and passion, something Dublin failed to do against Galway.

Absolutely. And considering the awful hammerings they've got from KK over the past 20 years, I wouldn't blame them if they celebrated for another week! But they won't -- Davy will have let them enjoy the night and will bring them back down to earth from today onwards. They are in with as good a chance as anyone of winning the All Ireland now.

Wexford were very good. Everybody is rightly saying that Lee Chin had a great game. I would say he was pushed hard for man of the match by Diarmuid O'Keeffe who was also exceptional. I think there is also more in Wexford. They may improve after tonight's game. Their next game will be a bigger test again. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 11/06/2017 08:30:28 1997783 Link 0 |
well it was a long way ahead of what dublin served up against galway anyway, that is for sure.....and im also sure that you would gladly swap manager too. anyway on the match,it wasn't a great game but the second half was pulsating. kilkenny never went away and i feared one of those heartbreaking 90s defeats. chin was immense.when we needed a leader,he showed why he is captain. but others stood up too and i thought simon donohue deserves a mention,he is only a young lad and waa super. can we beat galway?it is a big ask.but we did it in the league. but we'll worry about it in 3 weeks.whats seldom is special and must be enjoyed.UP WEXFORD perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 11/06/2017 09:03:49 1997785 Link 0 |
i brought my children onto the pitch, they loved it and got pictures with players, and loved the celebrations. I'll make no apologies for that.it was a wonderful evening for them and they are going to their first leinster final in 3 weeks,i see no problem with any of that. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 11/06/2017 09:07:49 1997786 Link 2 |
Very well done to Wexford, I'd say there's plenty of sore heads in the south east today, richly deserved. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 11/06/2017 09:20:45 1997789 Link 0 |
Wexford thoroughly deserved the win and I'd like to see them win Leinster, but I think last night's team was the worst Kilkenny team of the Brian Cody era. Only Fennelly, Buckley and possibly Reid played anywhere up to acceptable standard. Ger Aylward had a few very bad misses but he was getting on a lot of ball, I think he should have been left on longer. Richie Hogan is not fully fit but it shows how threadbare the panel is that he had to pick players who are obviously unfit. ballydalane (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1246 - 11/06/2017 09:29:45 1997790 Link 1 |

Hard to believe on Irish independent.ie it is the 19th item on their sports feed behind 12 rugby and 7 soccer items ??? hurler32 (Limerick) - Posts: 867 - 11/06/2017 10:28:34 1997814 Link 6 |
This championship has a feel if 2013 about it again...tipp and kilkenny in the back door draw..kilkenny knocked out by dublin similar to last night, cork on a spurt of life, carlow could b tricky for laois same as taking wexford to ET In 2013...clare could come in quietly again up the ladder..wexford the new dublin...if its to play out like 2013 again it will b great and needed preddan (Kildare) - Posts: 737 - 11/06/2017 10:43:14 1997818 Link 0 |
Congrats Wexford! Great to see the cats take down! Davy has surely already merited the freedom of Wexford town LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2479 - 11/06/2017 11:37:17 1997837 Link 0 |
Thought it was a poor game myself, yes the Kilkenny Wexford rivilary helped the intensity but the level of hurling wasn't great. As bad as I've seen Kilkenny. Skill levels way below the norm couldn't buy a score outside of TJs penos and frees. Wexford benefited from the space afforded to chin. The mirror image style of Clare under fitz. They'll be well bet by Galway I'd say. Brianmac78 (Dublin) - Posts: 1168 - 11/06/2017 12:02:12 1997848 Link 1 |
No mention of Waterford ? I think they are the sly snakes who are grinning the most . Possible Munster up for grabs and underdogs for the AI. Kilkenny seem lost, Tipp are confused. Galway are now firm favourties. A punt on Waterford would be a good one at 5/1. Although that been said I have a few euro on galway at 12/1 to win league and all-ireland put on earlier in the year and a random punt on wexford when they were 25/1. Regardless I've no idea who will be lifting Liam at the end of summer and I don't think anyone does really which is a lovely change. Hopefully more of the same with the football! He was amazing..and that cross field pass in the late second half; perfection. I remember watching Chin on the telly for that AIB toughest trade and thinking how hard it must be to be a good player on a team that gets nowhere but how wrong was I. Wexford have been the jewel of the championship (and league somewhat ) with their performances against the top teams. Congrats to them; it's great to see. Best of luck to them with Galway. I think it will be a much tougher opposition, Galway really look the biz this year. GameOfTyrones (Tyrone) - Posts: 469 - 11/06/2017 13:49:51 1997874 Link 0 |
I really wouldn't say it was a bad game. Not an open free flowing classic but both teams tried to snuff out danger men. It was certainly tense and exciting. Wexford had the will which is often more important than the skill. I think there's more in us too. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 2672 - 11/06/2017 16:11:53 1997913 Link 1 |
Congrats DoylerWex. I take it your daughter was born post 2004. Great result for Wexford, they never gave up last night, when Kilkenny got back to a point, they scored a point by Lee Chin, what a player. Lots of questions for Kilkenny. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1741 - 11/06/2017 17:57:38 1997969 Link 0 |

I'd say his odds for HOTY have dropped significantly since yesterday. Yeah he was sledging away on his own for the last couple of years. Davy has really revived Wexford since he went there. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 11/06/2017 19:50:42 1998044 Link 0 |
