Replying To arock:  "If Wexford can keep their discipline in check it will be close, if not its KK's day."
Why wouldn't they? They hardly gave a free away on the league and had no red cards? Also conceded very few frees?
Don't see any problem with discipline.

big match almost here,a litany of injuries has affected wexford and while only jack o connor and liam og of those who are likely to start,i am afraid it is too many injuries to overcome our great and respected rivals this weekend.

I wouldn't think there will be many home fans squeezing into the ground before throw-in Saturday evening that wont be thinking Wexford will win this. In years gone by Kilkenny would suck the life out of opponents in a game like this with a couple of quick goals but they struggled to get them in the league this year. Should be a great occasion, hopefully we the weather is good.

Surprised there seems to be not a whole pile of interest in this. Its the game of the championship to dat in my opinion.
Wexford to shade it!

Some pundits are attempting to play down Kilkenny's chances on Saturday but the bookies (Kilkenny are 1/3) and more importantly Wexford are not fooled nor will not be lulled into a false sense of security. Wexford's championship record against the black and amber will ensure that. If Kilkenny win by 10 pts nobody will be surprised. Expectation in the Marble City will be as high as ever as they are accustomed to winning and have set very high standards for themselves, so the fans, even if they do not travel in great numbers will be looking forward to August and beyond - bare minimum. Losing is unthinkable to many fans such are the standards and expectations in Kilkenny. That in itself brings its own pressures. Brian Cody has an uncanny knack of getting the absolute maximum of whatever 15 takes to the field in every game - Saturday evening will be no different. The league game in April will have no bearing on this weekend's game. History has always proven that to be the case with Kilkenny. Because of Wexford's record over the last 20 years v Kilkenny, expectations among fans will be realistic. Although Wexford fans will not be expecting to win, there is, given the improvement under Davy Fitzgerald's leadership a belief that if Wexford can reach the level of performance that they are capable of, then they are capable of making this game a lot closer than recent championship outings against the Cats. Let us hope that it is as competitive as it was between the counties from the 50s to the 90s and that a long summer is in store for both counties

I think you will see the papers ramp it up in the next couple of days. Too much going on - you have Ger slating Clare and then the hurling proposals. There is massive interest in it from the general hurling public as the date has been pencilled in for a lot of people since Wexford's league win - everyone wants to see if this is a genuine revival or a genuine decline or both. At least it Sky sports rather than RTE - get analysis rather than cliches.

A lot of people would prefer to get cliches rather than analysis, if it meant they could actually watch the game.

agree.pity this is not going to be seen by the whole country.
from when the draw was made, with all due respects to laois, wexford were targeting this game and now that it is hear, the box office in front of the country which would have been provided by the game on rte is lost,
probably 20k at the game and another 20k will see it.that is a pity.although depending on the result,it might not be!!

I don't think Wexford will be too confident for this, I think it is a 50-50 game but Kilkenny are stronger than they were in the league and surely are coming down to win this and nothing else.

Yes looking Forward to this one . Big derby similar to down and armagh last week and I think like last week the home team can take this one. Davy fitz has instilled a bit of steel into Wexford. ..

Hard luck Wexford when Kilkenny are in a mean mood like there is no stopping them. Ye can still make a big impact on the Championship through the back door. Oops that's tomorrow's post match thoughts.

I can't see Wexford win this one cos KK are seriously wound up for this one. The main thing is Wexford perform for the 70 minutes. As long as that happens there is no reason why Wexford won't regroup and make it to the business end of the Championship in August.

If anyone else bar Cody was KK manager I would be more optimistic about Wexford's chances. He seems to have the Munster rugby philosophy (Axel Foley) of ten years ago, being nobody beats us twice in a row. I don't think Kilkenny lost two championship matches in a row against the same opposition. Galway in 2012 came closest.

PS I am really looking forward to this and I hope I am wrong about the result.

If whoever plays full back for Kilkenny wins their battle I'd expect KK to win and win well. I think it's an area Wexford need to target as much as possible to win this. Although KK for the first time in my memory have the best keeper in the country and if he stays going the way he is, then possibly on the way to being one of the greats.
We will know more in a few hours where both teams are at

Happy to be proved wrong but I cannot see Kilkenny get anything next or near four goals, those days are all but over.

What, they will only get three goals ;) If the Laois game is anything to go by Wexford will be hunting for goals too. I think this Wexford team creates an awful lot of scoring chances but they hit too many wides.

Davy has malfunctioned in the past with his defensive set up and leaked goals.

Well done Wexford great win! They've brought a new level of intensity and physicality to their game and support play was superb, even with the amount of wides they sure create a lot of scoring chances and that area can only improve. Congrats
