Replying To Plasticbag:  "Was a great game on Sunday for the neutrals. Both teams are poor enough imo though and are over reliant on 2/3 players.i think this is where claregalway and to a lesser extent k/c have the advantage.

Both semi's are on Sunday. It's a pity for the followers of football that these games are both not on in the same venue.

I'm going for a willystown/claregalway win."
Think you've hit the nail on the head there. Claregalway's depth is unrivalled in the division currently and the reason they'll walk the champ imo.

You just have to look at the population they have at their disposal compared to the other 3 parishes left in the competition. Can't see any of the 3 other remaining teams coming within 5 points of Claregalway and with the huge resources (people and facilities) at their disposal you'd have to fancy this Claregalway team to be a top 4 side in the Senior Championship within the next 2-3 years.

Fair play to Claregalway they put the work in at underage and are reaping the rewards or near the future

Anyones championship as far as I can see. Everyone thinks its between CG or K/C - 2 teams known for falling flat on their face come the business end of things.

I was at the Baille Liam v Aran game on Sunday preparing notes for the Clonberne management. Not the best in terms of quality but definitely exciting to the final whistle. You can see the 2 teeams were prepared to die out there for a place in the final and its fantastic to see.

Should be a great weekend of football this Sunday. Such a pity they havent made it a double header.

95% of the clubs in Ireland would kill to have the population available to Claregalway as well as the 3 clubhouses and 5 pitches they have.

Very well ran club.

Lord leave off with the claregalway gloating.they were not too smart last weekend v headford in the league.they are a middling intermediate team at best and nowhere near a top 4 senior team.

Monivea are a top 4 Senior team after only just coming up from Intermediate this year. Don't see how you can argue that a team with Claregalway's resources cant become a Top 4 side within the next 3 years especially when you look at Monivea.

a double header would be difficult given the divergence of the teams involved....Aran could not be expected to come to tuam...they would have to leave the night before and equally clonbern to pearse would be illogical

I take the point about the population but this is countered in some way by the fact that Claregalway is surrounded by 4 hurling clubs/parishes (unlike any other football club in the county) and this often mitigates against them. Remember there is a proportion of Claregalway's population whose first love will always be hurling and I don't just mean within the Carnmore end of the parish. Population in the Claregalway case is misleading as they are drawing from a smaller pot than CSO figures like Oranmore Maree andMoycullen to some degree.

Replying To Jellybaby:  "What a draw for Aran and the Willie's, they might never get an opportunity like this again. I'm going Williamstown v K/C final, what a final that would be for the locals and neautral. I watched Williamstown against Menlough and Oranmore this year, they should have bet Menlough in the first round if not for a few poor misses throughout the game and against Oranmore they deserved their win. They are a good team and who are definitely not reliant on Kelly, he actually was very poor against Oranmore and it was the rest of the forward line that carried them through on the day with a never say die attitude and some lovely forward play. Best of luck to both teams, it's a fantastic story for two rural clubs fighting it out against the big boys"
Gary Kelly scores 8 out of 12 points for Baille Liam but they are not reliant on him ?

Jellybaby - you are not on my level...

Goodnight.

6 frees? Frees seem to be a lot of what he kicks. Apparently they have another accomplished free taker at their disposal according to Galway Bay last Sunday who kicked one from 60 yards

They are reliant on Kelly alright from the point of view that he is their free taker and their best bet to get scores.
He is overrated from general play though. Doesn't score enough when up against a half decent defender.

From what I have seen from the Intermediate championship over the last few season a good freetaker is worth their weight in Gold. Looks pretty lightweight this season in the division so I would imagine the winners of CG and KC will fancy themselves to go up. Will be a massive day for either Baile Liam or Oiliean Arainn though and I would be remiss to write either team off at this stage, but I expect the winner to come from the other semi.

Not sure if this is entirely accurate. Possibly is the case for the weaker teams out there but for any team who is able to attack and dont rely on blanket defences, then they are able to rack up enough from play to get them over the line in 95% of games.

Judging by Carnmore's recent demise I don't think they've been taking too many players from Claregalway's plate.

Look I think any club with 3 clubhouses and 7 pitches are in prime position to maximise the population they have at their disposal. Would expect Oranmore to do similar when they get their new training complex built.

Perhaps if you bothered to go in the Stadium on Sunday you would be singing from a different hymn sheet

with a final it could be set in either tuam or pearse...if it is clonbern and williamstown then tuam and if clonbern and aran then Pearse
try using a bit of logic there

Monivea is 38 km closer to pearse than williamstown...and try to consider the distance from Aran to tuam...common sense needs to be applied Austin and not fleece the supporter more than is necessary
