Two good finals played in near perfect October weather a great advert i thought for both our senior and minor club football today. Minor final could have went either way and hard to believe Brigid's ended up winning by 9 points. Alot of talent on both sides and the future is very bright for both clubs.

Senior final Brigids fully deserved their win but probably 2 or 3 points the better side than 6 points. The sending off of David O Gara was a key moment of the game and Gaels will be thinking what if he they had 15 men throughout the game. Domican was given the MOTM award others to impress was Ian Kilbride,Padraig Kelly and Brian Stack. Best for Roscommon Gaels was Mark Healy,Cian Connolly,James Fetherstone, and Richard Hughes

Replying To endgame:  "Brigids the best in Roscommon undoubtedly but they were hammered by Corofin last year and I hope that doesn't happen again in a couple of weeks. While today's Final seems to have been a good match,I wouldn't be sure the standard of the club championship in Roscommon is that good."
I never mentioned the standard...it was ok. Brigids have that bit of guile and the sending off was a big moment.

It was a very entertaining final. The right result was a brigids win. Neither side will be happy with the defensive efforts. Could not believe domican got man of the match. I thought Padraig Kelly was the best player on show, mark Healy also shone would like to see him getting a run with ros if he's available. The gaels limitations were shown up. 1-4 out of 3-7 from placed balls. The penalty was a bit dubious as the ref had signalled for a free in first for a foul outside the pen area and had not taken his hand down for the advantage before awarding the penalty. The third goal was quite lucky. Plus James Featherstone made 3 important stops.
Having said that the geals spirit was admirable. They were unlucky with the sending off it both really should have gone. The Dolans had ogara risen from an early stage with the off the ball antics. I enjoyed that game plus the conditions and the Hyde were great.
Brigids on today's display won't get close to beating corofin or castlebar but they won't mind that this evening.

The best team came out on top but the defences of both teams were quite poor. I dono how domnican got man of the match when he was in a defence that leaked 3 goals. Mark healy was immense for the gaels was everywhere great to see him back after a serious back injury. Pitty he is now in London which would rule him out of the county setup.

Padraig Kelly was very good for brigids and brian stack. It was amazing to see the size difference in players from the senior final this week and the two games last week. Conditioned to the last.

I think yesterday showed that spending all that money on the hyde was well worth it the game was never in doubt it really held up brilliantly we finally have a pitch that fitting of county finals even if the stand is too far away from the pitch haha

James featherston has become a very confident reassured goal keeper and made a couple of brilliant saves and his kick outs was good for the majority. I would have to disagree with the above I did not think cian Connolly had a good game and a lot of the gaels more important players did not stand up KIeran Kilcline scott oates cathal dineen

Competitive high scoring senior final that was in the balance until 4 minutes to go. Brigids were the slicker team all through but made hard work of it to finally close the game out. They found scoring from play to be easier but in fairness Brigids made it far more diffcult to score with their blanket defence. 2-3 is all Roscommon Gaels got from play and one of those goals were fortuitous they simply hadnt the time and room on the ball to get scores like Brigids did.

The two late goals that sealed the deal was well finished but the defending by Gaels on both was really poor. David O Gara was a loss Gaels couldn't afford and they have little bench options. Brian Stack was my MOTM he set the tone and was all over the field with his incredible workrate he has been arguably the player of club championship.

The downside of Brigids dominance is affecting the attendance the neutrals are have less and less interest and our lesser neighbors are getting bigger crowds at their county finals. Our county board need to rethink on how to get the crowd back maybe 10€ for tickets or family rates would be a start

Final word on the minor final that was even more high scoring contest than the senior final. Amazingly Brigids won it by nine points when it was level 4-8 to 2-14 with 5 mins to go will be interesting to see how Brigids fare against ClareGalway next in the Connacht semi final.

I was lucky enough to have attended all 4 finals in hyde park over the last two weekends. All very good games in my opinion with the best teams winning out on all occasions.
Was impressed with match referee's in all games which is an unusal complaint fir me but credit where it is due.
Bridgets will have to up the ante v Corofin. Scary how Bridgets are such a young panel.
Ros Gaels back to drawing board. No subs of any note on the bench was their downfall.

What was the average age of the Brigids starting team yesterday? Both Sheehys,Domican,R Stack,Both Kilbrides,G Dolan,D Dolan,P Kelly,C McHugh are all aged between mid 20s and early 30s i'd say

Compared that to McStays county team which averge age was 23? with few starters over the age of 26. Has county football become a younger mans game in Roscommon or is next year the time to bring in a bit more experience to help along the youth?

So you are saying the average age of the St Brigids starting 15 yesterday was 27?

Roscommon geals are always the worst supported club in the county. That has a big effect on crowds. Coupled with brigids domination

4 days on from the conclusion of the Roscommon senior club championship here is IMO the team of year.

James Fetherstone (Roscommon Gaels)
good distribution, uses his height and strength to control his area and is becoming a outstanding shot stopper

Niall McInerney (Brigids) played in different positions in the Brigids defence and held his markers to low scores more often than not.

John McManus (Roscommon Gaels) one of Gales best players on route to final and did a decent marking job on Senan Kilbride in the final

Peter Domican (Brigids)
has slotted back into club football like he was never away was and still is a top defender.

Aidan Dowd (Western Gaels)
very impressive young footballer both as defender and attacking outlet. Was Western Gaels best players in their narrow semi final defeat.

David O Gara (Roscommon Gaels) Arguably Gales best player in route to the final losing him in the final was a massive blow

Sean Mullooly (Strokestown) good club and county season for Mullooly going off injured showed how much of loss he was to his side against Boyle

Enda Smith (Boyle)
He didn't have his best of games in semi final which was not helped the distraction and heavy training for the international rules. From midfield Enda scored on average a goal per game.

James McDermott (Roscommon Gaels) Gaels won 4 of their 5 group games because of their midfield dominance and doctor McDermott played a big part in that

Brian Stack (Brigids) player of the club championship IMO one of the best young footballers in Connacht

Donie Smith (Boyle) Another good club season for Donie only Donie Shine scored more than him this season

Pagraig Kelly (Brigids)
Mr consistency and has surely caught the eye of McStay

Finbarr Cregg (Western Gaels) Probably the best ever club season for Finbarr and is worth a call up to the county panel

Donie Shine (Clann) top scoring forward (4-46) in the club championship and remains one of the best target men around. Without him Clann would not have got promoted to section A

Diarmuid Murtagh (St Faithleachs) his club may have got relegated but the top scoring forward from play in the championship deserve his place on the best 15 in my view.

Delighted the Gaels came a cropper in the final.at least they didn't go away empty handed... they have the winnings from backing Brigids to beat themselves in the group stages.
