Western gaels are looking good this year. They could have won by 20pts yesterday. I would fancy them to finally win the county title. They certainly have the talent to do it.

Careful now, that was a fairly strung together skeleton team from Boyle that they beat.

They were only missing 2 players .. 2 big players albeit.. western gaels weren't at full strength either Thomas mahon Barry creighton stephen ryan.. some big games next weekend now looks like wins for ros gaels and brigids and a real 50 50 game between gaels and pearses.. could we have 3 teams on 4 and 3 teams on 0?

Sean Purcell, Dylan east, tadgh mckena and Michael hanmore and possibly one other from their 1st choice back six. Not to mention enda smith.

Not looking good for crea.. too many miles on the clock it seems.. stown could have a big say if they stay injury free.. like wgaels they move the ball at serious pace. Big fields suit them.

It might be a little bit early to start judging teams on their first round performance, maybe after this weekend it will start to show whos hot and whos not

Unfortunately a proud town that has produced fine footballers down the years seem to be slipping down out of senior football. Hopefully they can arrest this and stay in senior. Their cause hasn't being helped by some of their big names bolting when things got tough.

Even though it's only the start of championship the pack of real contenders seems to have gotten bigger, depending on whether or not Strokestown, Roscommon Gaels and Western Gaels can keep their performances consistently high. Add them to the usuals in Brigid's, Pearses and Clann and this could be a brilliant championship. Nobody wants to write off a team this early but Castlerea have a massive task on their hands to stay up.

Even at this stage I think only Brigids, Western Gaels or Clann can win it. Pearses were horrendous last week and the game would have been over at half time if Brigids had really shown more of a killer instinct. I would expect them to get a fair beating from Western Gaels this weekend. Brigids will beat Faithleachs at home. Clann will beat Croans. Wins for Strokestown and Roscommon Gaels as well.

A bit early to be making any judgement call on any team yet. After this weekends games there isn't another championship match until August a number of footballers will be spending their summers June and July overseas and the form and fitness of teams could be very different by then.

What pleased me most last weekend was the form of our current seniors I seen playing. For example Kevin Higgins scoring 1-5,Cian Connolly 0-5 and Donie Smith 1-6. John McManus, new addition David Rooney,Ciaran Cafferky were impressive also.

Yes you're correct. The big break is a disister any team who has 2 wins should have plenty of morale to keep the training levels up through summer. Think playing intermediate league will show against boyle and faithleachs they could face the drop to second tier. Strokestown are very dangerous

strokestown are dangerous?? all they have done is beaten a terrible castlerea team , dont know how you see them as dangerous when thats all theyve done this year, they will struggle against kilmore and will find it difficult to get out of the group.

Why do you think Strokestown are dangerous? Granted they have many good players but haven't proved anything in senior football yet!

Strokestown have the potential to be right in the mix come the business end of championship. Just need to sort out the consistency issues. Colin Compton has the potential to be player of championship.

strokestown hammering brigids off the park 2 weeks ago was just a fluke in your eyes?

Strokestown have beaten Pearses and Bridgets this year already. Not saying they will win championship but with Mullolly, Brogan, Corcoran and 2 x Compton's they just might go close.

Given I was at it yes to a certain extent.what they beat 1 to 15 two weeks ago won't be what they'll meet 1to 15 in September or even October should it happen.
