so what is the point?families want to go on holidays in august, after exams, schools, etc are finished.they would be better off keeping the 2 week in august free.it is a nightmare, but one must be sat down and looked at.should 8 weeks in june/july be used to run off the championships?that way, exams etc arent impacted.
after all the debate,at the end of the day, none of us have an answer to suit everybody! :)"
this is all getting away from the point though. its not the ordinary club player who is going off on holidays in August. And after exams? What exams are in August? Leaving cert or college students going off on holidays can do so as it stands. the club fixtures no doubt are messy, but this has absolutely nothing to do with what the initial point is.

http://www.wexfordgaa.ie/2016/02/draft-fixtures-plan-2016/ was the plan issued last season."
I mean an actual calendar, not a rough draft

i mean the inter county game flies ahead in june/july because they arent doing state exams.

So we have a break in June and most of July and now you want another two weeks left free in August?

The County board dont like to push this version as its open to change. County players cant go in Jund but clubs can! Club players can go whenever they want for about 8 weeks!!

well there isnt that many lads playing inter county doing the leaving now,to be fair.the 2 weeks kept free in august were for underage only.
look,we could all argue this till the cows come home.the fixtures setup is a mess which the gaa needs to find a solution to,be it clubs playing on without inter county men,be it whatever.
my view is that the current situation is absolutely not sustainable, people are being turned off by it,it is up to the gaa to figure out what the clubs want, what the counties want, etc, etc.
the reality is,people have losing interest and just going on holidays and the are 100% right to do it until the gaa get their house in order.the unfortunate losers are the clubs.....but the gaa doesnt give a hoot about the clubs.if you are only nothing that now, where have you been.
back to predictions for the weekend in next post.

18 players you say?? Not true. Dont start sturring without the facts.

Lets put this behind us now its done with. I am still away and would appreciate some reports on games the weekend rather than this carrying on. Club reports have been excellent lately fair play to everybody giving the club scene a bit of attention.

I or 18,it's still a disgrace. It was a person on the holiday who told me 18. Tell us how many went if you know?

What carry on 3,of the senior clubs who had players away lost and two of those teams could have won if they had of had there senior hurling players.

James' ddidnt show up, again, against the Martins...
Fethard likewise against #Gusserane.

Surprised at Fethard thought they were dark horses this year. Martins are different class on there day in fairness to James' and they gave them a similar beating 2 years ago if im not mistaken, James' went on to beat them in the final.
Barntown finally getting back on track? Similar late arrival to last year perhaps.

Oh there may well be 18 but not 18 wexford senior hurlers as you represented it. I dont know exactly who is or isnt on holiday so I am not going to pretend I do and misinform people here. I do know there is a lot less than 18 of the senior hurling panel gone, along with some club players that you neglected to call a disgrace.

Please be more responsible before you drum up support behind bad info. This is how bad feeling spreads around the county. Also I hope you had a go at the lad that was going on the holiday before you came on here, or maybe this was easier.

have seen alot of games, they have not been good, only the martins can beat the martins, they have it in the bag if they dont have a meltdown, glynn going very poor this year [yet] sars looking like they will go down, bar they can pull off the great escape again, taghmon play a great style of football, couple of very good forwards, getting class scores, very young team, cant see them winning it [yet] but sure are fit

Extremely interesting last round matches coming up in both groups. Only 3 teams (Martin's, Shels and castletown) look qualified and others can finish anywhere from 2nd to 5th. Bar sarsfields and horeswood who look to be set for a relegation battle .
Martin's looked impressive Friday night. Look the team to beat. Surprised at fethard also. They looked very good against Martin's the last day but results like that happen at times. They can guarantee qualification v horeswood with a win/draw in last round. Gusserane need to now beat Martin's to definitely qualify and James need to beat taghmon who are playing very well.
In the other group Glynn need to beat castletown or they are likely out. Starlights will qualify if they beat sarsfields. Anne's will be through if they beat Shels or if Glynn lose they qualify on head to head . Interesting times ahead. All to play for

I told him I thought it was a disgrace. He told me 18 players were going. He reckoned if more of them went it wouldn't be as much of an issue. People are missing the point and trying to pick holes in the story to defend the defenceless. The facts are a group of players went on holidays and let there clubs down big time.

People have long memories about these things in club's and it will stick with the players for a long time. That said perhaps time to let it go on this forum. It's done now and while a majority would agree with you we should get back to the games.
