Form goes out the window when an All-Ireland SFC semi-final comes around, according to Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice.

The Kingdom's boss was speaking to the Kerryman ahead of this Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final against old rivals Mayo who have advanced to the last four, courtesy of the qualifiers.

Mayo have been less than impressive in the majority of their games, but more importantly, they have been improving with each game and Fitzmaurice is adamant that the past will have no bearing on Sunday's game.

"All bets are off here and what has gone before doesn't matter in a game like this," said Fitzmaurice. "I think Mayo's body language in the win over Roscommon in the replay showed that they meant business and tactically I thought they got it spot on and even though they struggled in games during the qualifiers they seem to be coming good when they get to Croke Park much like they did last year when they got there in a similar way.

"Games are a brilliant thing to have this time of year, maybe not every week, but certainly every two. It's a classic case of a side with a lot of football like Mayo playing a side with very little like ourselves and the challenge for us is can we bring what we need to win in Croke Park.

"I have massive respect for Mayo and the way they keep coming back, but I don't want them to win an All-Ireland at Kerry's cost."
