Kieran Fitzgerald and Martin Farragher celebrate Corofin's All Ireland Club Final win over Slaughtneil. INPHO

Kieran Fitzgerald brought his haul of Galway SFC medals with Corofin to an astounding eleven last Sunday.

An All-Ireland winner with Galway in 2001, Fitzgerald is still an inspirational figure at club level and was instrumental in Corofin's comfortable victory over Salthill-Knocknacarra last weekend.

Manager Kevin O'Brien is in awe of his veteran defender: "Everything that can be written on Kieran Fitzgerald has been written," he told gaa.ie. "He is an unbelievable character, his presence in the dressing room and on the pitch, he is the first at training.

"Even in training drills, he is as good as he is playing Championship football. He is a credit to himself and to his family, I'm proud he is from Corofin. He is exceptional really, to consider he won an All Ireland with Galway in 2001, he was flying up and down the pitch in 2016, he lives football seven days a week. He is a credit to himself and his family.

"It is an unbelievable achievement, it takes such effort, seven days a week for 'Fitzy' to do that. When he gets an injury, he is back three or four weeks quicker than anyone else, that is a credit to himself and the way he looks after himself."
